From battling the legendary Masaharu Morimoto on Iron Chef America, to guiding Anthony Bourdain through the markets and restaurants of Los Angeles’ and Las Vegas, culinary personality Jet Tila, has been nationally celebrated for his culinary expertise on modern Asian Cuisine. Growing up working at his family’s famed Bangkok Market—the first-ever Thai grocery store in Los Angeles in the ‘70s—and Royal Thai restaurant, Jet spent time learning the ancient traditions of Asian cuisine from his Cantonese grandmother. A born “culinary storyteller,” Jet was appointed as the inaugural Culinary Ambassador of Thai Cuisine by the Royal Thai Consulate, as the first-ever chef to represent his country’s culture and cuisine in the United States.

Chef Jet’s culinary operations include Dragon Tiger Noodle Co in Las Vegas, Modern Asian Kitchen with Compass Group, NBC/Universal in Los Angeles along with a line of Schwan’s Home Service frozen meals.

He appears as regular judge on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen as well as an array of shows ranging from the Today show on NBC, Iron Chef America, Guy's Grocery Games, Family Food Showdown,, Chopped & Beat Bobby Flay ; and holds six culinary Guinness World Records.

Like many others, I loved Jet's last book. This book, however, feels like it's a bit unpolished (see the screenshot).

Hit: Arroz con Pollo. Simple and delicious, though the instructions felt a bit off. Following the instructions as written will overcrowd the pan and lead to a mixture of cooked and undercooked vegetables. Pulling the chicken and letting it rest on a plate while sauteeing the vegetables and then mixing in the rice leads to better results. Just add the chicken after stirring in the liquids and it'll cook through just fine.

Miss: Banana Bread. After I put the pan in the oven I realized that there was no leavener at all in the recipe. Sure enough, it turned out dense and gummy.
