5.0 out of 5 starsThe shop at the corner - with songs

I've seen this on stage and it was very enjoyable. Really all it lacks is a well known, or hit, song but the music is very pleasing and some tracks are quite ingenius. One, Sounds While Shopping, merges snatches of conversation with amusing results and another A Trip to the Library raises the mundane to completely new heights. There is even a track merging love and vanilla ice-cream. A good synopsis with the disk, allows you to follow the story and the entire cd is an unexpected treat for lovers of musicals. If you've still any doubts, the fact that the female lead is played by Ruthie Henshall should allay these.
Another lovely recording of this wonderful show. NB. When will Amazon realise that a cast recording of a stage show IS NOT A 'SOUNDTRACK'! Soundtracks are Film/Movie tracks. Get it right, please!

I saw this show in the West End back in the 90s and love the catchy songs. Not many people have heard of this musical but I really recommended it. It deserves more recognition than it gets. Some of the songs, such as 'Vanilla Ice Cream', are hilarious if you listen to the lyrics.
