This is my second 3M Work Tunes headphone set. I bought the same one 16 years ago. It still works great, but the Florida sun has taken a toll on the headband part, and some of the plastic coating on the wiring was deteriorating, I sure got my money's worth out of it! That's why I bought another one just like it. I usually tune the headphones to my favorite radio station while mowing. I like that I don't have to turn the radio up loud as the headphones themselves block outside noise considerably. Listening to tunes or not, these headphones really make doing yardwork a pleasure!
These are basically 3M quality which to me is good. But there are 2 things that I don’t care for: the volume knob and tuning knob are too easy to accidentally change. There are no detents to hold the setting so it’s very easy to change both. It’s otherwise well designed. Knobs are big so you can adjust w/ gloves. The way you tune to a station is overall probably smart but since it’s easy to accidentally change, it can be a little annoying.
I like it but, there is dead space in the volume knob resulting in the maximum volume being lower than it should be. I am using them for walking and am trying to decide if it is okay. Will wear them for awhile. The speaker quality is very good.
If your looking for just hearing protection these work fine . I work outdoors with these and found that when you are listening to the radio ,it is easy to accidently BUMP the control knob and CONSTANTLY have the Stationed changed frequently . I also did not like how the radio station is found , no visual display , you just keep hitting the button until you hear the station your looking for . Also , These things go thru battery life FAST . I should have returned these . Do yourself a favor and pass on these .
This would be my second radio, the first one lasted for several years, I thought I had lost it, as it turned out another person had used it, I digress, the older one has better reception and more volume, and when you work around equipment those are a must, new is not always better!
