If you are playing 2D platformers with this, the D-Pad is sublime. I think there was an older revision of this which wasn't as nice (from looking back at reviews), but this is absolute perfection. I have large hands, and I haven't managed to press an input accidentally yet, I've used this for a few hundred hours. Build quality is excellent, this feels solid and its lovely to use. My only complaint is that it isn't as nice to use the thumbsticks in more demanding 3D games, but this is not the reason to get this pad. Long sessions with games like Zelda BotW or Mario Odyssey can get uncomfortable. I've completed New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, Dead Cells (1 Boss Cell) and Celeste with this, and I can't fault it for those games. I also have a second one of these, a pro controller and spare joycons for party nights, and this controller is perfectly acceptable for games like Overcooked 2, any trivia games, Yoshi's Crafted World, Party Golf, Towerfall, etc. It is a workhorse and it does a damn good job.
I have one other minor complaint in that it can be a little slow and tricky to pair, for example swapping between multiple consoles, but its brilliant if you just want to use it with a single console.
I purchased this because the d-pad on the switch joy cons aren’t great for certain games. The pairing is fairly straightforward, but nowhere near as easy as first party controllers; you can’t turn the console on remotely with this controller. The ABXY buttons feel great and the analogue sticks are pretty good too. The shoulder buttons are a little more squishy but not terrible. Unfortunately, the D-pad, whilst better in some ways, falls short overall. No one can make D-pads like Nintendo in my opinion. When pressing one direction, sometimes the pressure is transferred to an adjacent directional input. So, for example, a specific downward press becomes a diagonal press, this is not something you get with official controllers. All in all, it’s a great controller to have for multiplayer games, like mario kart, where someone cannot use the little joy cons with normal human sized hands, but if a better D-pad is what you’re after, I recommend spending the extra money on a Switch Pro Controller.
I bought this to use on various devices, mainly pc and the Nintendo Switch. The dpad is terrible as it's that hard you cannot, no matter how many times you try, to get a diagnol movement. Shame as the rest of the pad appears to be functional
Easy to use easy to setup no problem rumble could have been better but thats a minor. You may want some extra grip like play station handle with these but then again I think that too is minor since its soo portable you put these in your example Switch carry case. I love the portability of it it has fairly long battery life I have rarely charged feels reliable.
Things I would love to see is better rumble a little bit more weight to give the tilt functionality a more control other than that hats off to the people bringing such excellent products please continue with your good endeavours.
Got this after a prolonged period of drift-related-Joy-Con-decline until I hardly touched my Switch at all. This wee pad is a game changer. Feels solid, robust, comfortable to hold (got fairly medium sized hands) and it has rekindled my love of Zelda and all things Switch. With it's old SNES form factor, it's also just a really pleasing object to look upon whenever I notice it on my coffee table. If you can't tell - I really enjoy using this thing.
Is just perfect! I used to play in my macbook, switch, my friend xbox. Is light, classic, the buttons and joystick have an amazing sensation and the battery is unbelievable, can used practically all week without charging (playing like 2 or 3 hour a day)
