AD 18 is a small full digital class d bluetooth amplifier built-in headphone amplifier supports subwoofer output.Connect it to your computer and use it to drive your headphones with an amplifier or to power your passive speakers(4ohm speaker produces 80Wx2 output power).Sophisticated matting aluminum housing reduces interference. Patented SDB sound and +-8 level treble and bass adjustment. Independent headphone amplifier design and advanced DSP technology makes the unit more desirable. Amplifier Chip: Using TAS5508C for digital signal DSP processing and Pre-Amp.TAS5342A for digital signal rear-AMP. It will be through LC filter and then send to amplifier output jack. Digital Receiving Chip:CS8422.It receive optical and coaxial signal and all signal transfer. USB chip:TAS1020B. Supports stereo sound 24bit/96kHz.For much better sound, we use SDPI output instead of internal DAC output design. Strong anti-interference ability and More High-Fidelity. Summing up, if you require a new home theatre, and didn't really use the functions like tuner and internet connection that they all have and for which you pay, you would be wise to consider this unit.
It is amazing the power it puts out with no discernible distortion.
But I have had few manufactures issues, Optical port doesn't hold optical cable properly and the unit doesn't catch remote controller signal anymore. So I am going to return this unit and will buy it again.
I have not tested it with my big floor standing speakers, but may just for fun down the track.
The only negative is I too (like a few other customers) have experienced light bleed in the lower right corner of the LCD screen, but it's not a major issue, I just have OCD. I'm thinking it maybe a production issue.
If you have mid lacking bookshelf speakers you can push the bass up on this little bad boy, adjust your crossover accordingly and it will fill gaps way better than you think it would
Super happy with this one, do get a tiny bit of whine when left on overnight in a dead silent room, and the remote doesn’t work all that far away, but for a bedroom computer setup it’s actually super rad and sounds $200 better than it’s price tag
Ultra clear sound through my Bose 301s with a Luxman 12" sub (using the aux/sub out 3.5mm to RCA).
Bluetooth is faultless, design is great, screen is bright and worth the money.
Screen is a little hard to see in some angles with light bleed in the right corner (seems common).
Only one rotary controller for all settings and selection of inputs which may be problematic if the pot wears out in time.
Overall the pros outweighs the cons and just buy this amp now!
Sound profile is clean, sharp and clear across its volume range. Perhaps lacking a little presence in the mids, though this is more likely the speakers I have connected than any deficiencies in the amplifier. Look forward to many years of service from this amp!
Powers my self converted passive Audioengine A2 easily. The SMSL AD18 may not be tuned for the Audioengine A2's but sounds good to me!
Would be 5/5 if the SMSL AD18's could output wirelessly to my blue tooth headphones. But still a great product.
Unit look superb in finish and appears to be well built, and the audio performance didn't disappoint. In fact, I'm impress with how good it sounds and it has power to drive my speakers to extreme loud level.
Also extremely impressed with Amazon - unit was dispatched a day after my order and payment, and I received it the following day.

The USB input appears as a USB soundcard, and does need any specific drivers on my computer. The Bluetooth connected to my Sony phone without difficulties, and was recognized as an AptX device.
The unit is smaller than it looks in photos -- about the size of a house-brick cut in half lengthways. It needs an external power adapter, which is about the same size. I was irritated to find it was supplied with a European plug, not a UK one. This isn't a deal-breaker, but it means adding a couple of quid for an adapter or a replacement plug to the cost. It is supplied with a short USB cable which is, oddly, white. There is an external Bluetooth antenna -- presumably because the all-metal casing would prevent an internal antenna working.
Geeky technical note -- this unit uses class D amplification. This means that the amplitude of the output signal is controlled by pulse-width modulating (PWM) a current which is either fully on or fully off. Thus negligible power is dissipated in the final output stage which, presumably, is why the unit can be so small. It also means that no separate DAC is needed for digital input signals -- the digital sample values are converted directly to PWM duty cycles. It also means that the analog input has to be converted to digital. There is therefore no conceivable benefit to using this unit with an external DAC feeding the analog input, as is the case for many traditional class-B amplifier designs.
Class D amplifiers do tend to have a characteristically "digital" sound -- bright and a little harsh. However, the signal-to-noise ratio is impressive, because there is no analog processing whatsoever.
All in all, a good purchase, if you need a very compact amp with direct digital inputs and a subwoofer output.
From my limited time of using this, I would say the amp has more than enough power to drive the headphones I own, i.e. HE-4xx and LCD 2 Closed, both of them are efficient headphones.
This is overall a great product, but unfortunately it is not what I am after at the moment. I look for a DAC / AMP with USB, optical and Bluetooth inputs built-in (as minimum requirements for inputs) and it should be have optical out. I am mislead by the product descriptions (as attached), unfortunately it is not good for my use, I have to return it. But it is a great product for its performance and cost.
The Amp comes with a power supply that looks similar to a standard PC type PS, but this one is a 24V 5A - which makes the claim that the amp is 2 * 80 watts unlikely, as the max power consumption is likely around 120 watts. 20-30 per channel is more likely, but even so it still packs a punch and is perfectly good for a PC/TV set up where space is a key consideration. Aux from the PC, Optical from the TV tested and work well, and I've just tried Bluetooth and my Huawei P10 Lite connected first time and the sound is good. I've included the User Manual for those interested in the technical data and operation.
The headphone output is okay, but as others have noted it does have a limited output, so if you have high impeadance phones and want to listen loud you may want to think about a headphone preamp. The remote control - it works and does the job, but not exactly elegant.
Overall though i'm really pleased i went for this set up over powered speakers
