5.0 out of 5 starsEasy to install with great record quality
Reviewed in Australia on 26 June 2019
I was eager to install a dash cam as I almost had an accident when a car dash out in a T junction in front of me. I installed it as soon as I received it.
Quality: -Lightweight -Easy to install -Large lens for low light recording -Clip-on design, easy removal of the camera without detaching the suction cup.
Operation: -The menu is easy to navigate without the need to look up user manual. -Build in timestamp for accident track. -Able to set the Car Plate number watermark on the video, in the event, there are multiple recording SDs from different vehicles. (I have to mask off my number plate for privacy purpose)
The low light recording is good when there are more light sources around, e.g. traffic junction, near the shops, where most of the accidents happen. During the day, almost all dash cam can record clearly as long as the front window is clean. For this reason, the dash cam should be installed behind the area where the windshield wipers can clean.
1.0 out of 5 starsLoop recording, technical support
Reviewed in Australia on 14 November 2019
Loop recording is limited to 1,2 and 5 minutes, need to format the sad card every fortnight, shut down half way trough the recording, Technical department no help at all, not solve the fault, only advice they gave is don't use certain features in the camera, I don't buy again, picture quality is great,
Very easy to install! I like the suction mount with a twist to secure feature. it is very handy to adjust. Very nice image quality with a big screen. Muchbetter than my previous one ($150 above)! I like it.
The installation is super easy, just plug it in the car. There are two sets of holders, I used the suction one, It holds really tight. The screen is 3", just the right size. It's not too big to block your view, but the shooting angle is wide and the video quality is really high. Especially happy about the night time recording quality, it could identify the front car's plates easily, muchbetter than my blurry old one.
Way, way better than the first dash camera I bought years ago (NOT from Apeman).
I set up and used this dashcam for over a week, both in day and night, and reviewed the footage before writing this review.
Short review: Works great, visibility is good. Everything is as I would hope, I would recommend this dashcam. Read on for more detail.
This camera has all the specs it claimed. I measured. The lens is 170 degrees corner to corner. The 1080p video is good quality. The 30 fps is nice and smooth. The video at night isn't too noisy or grainy. Also the highlights are not too blown out when it is dark out.
My expectations were high. I had previously purchased the Apeman 4k action camera, and was very impressed with the video and stills I was able to get with that camera. So I was hopeful this camera could live up to the action camera's quality. The lens is actually muchbetter in this dash camera than the action camera!
Pros: - It was super easy to set up. - Cord was long enough to wrap around the windshield of my mini-van. - I can actually read licence plates. I could not at all with my previous dash camera. At night it is harder to read licence plates, they are too reflective but that isn't unexpected. Licence plates are covered with a reflective material so if it is in the middle of your headlights it will over expose, but if the plates are just off to the side of the headlights you can still make out the plate number. - You can do time lapses with it. You can set it for 1 seconds, 5 seconds, and 10 seconds between photos. Not with video at the same time, but I like having the option to take larger photos instead. It doesn't compile the photos into another video, but you can easily do that on a computer.
Cons: - I wish the manual was a little more verbose. I felt I had to explore menus and guess at which button did what. I also would like to know more about the other modes, like 'continuous picture mode'. It says 10 mega pixels, but I am unsure how many frames per second it would be. I imagine it would depend on memory card speed.
Tips: - Put the Camera where your wipers can reach. At first I placed the camera directly behind my mirror; when I cleaned my windows the camera got obscured because the wipers didn't reach in front of the camera. - Make sure the window is very clean when driving at night. All the spots and streaks really show up with oncoming headlights. - Only remove the memory card when the driver's door and window are closed. The memory card slot is spring loaded to help remove it. I used my fingernail to press on my memory card, and it shot out of the camera, out my drivers side window, and under my neighbor's car parked next to me!
well, first, this price is affordable and cheap for a dash cam, so you can't simply compare this product with other super expensive one. second, i'm not using this to record any v-blog or as a go pro. it is what it is, a dash cam, to record the driving record in case there's something happened in the terrible traffic condition in the bay area. last, it works. it does it job well. sound is clear, the wide angle pretty much catches everything ahead of my car. one thing need to mention is you may need to buy a good sd card for better storage. one drawback i can think of right now is during the nighttime, even though it still works, but day time is better and clearer overall.
This is my first dash camera that I ever bought. I decided to buy the dash camera because of number of cases in the news where dash camera was the only way driver was able to save himself from tickets and at fault accidents. I contemplated number of times which resolution to go for 4K or 1080p, after through research I decided to go for 1080p and its great vaule.
This dash camera came in great packaging which gave an impression that it's a premium product. They talked about their company which shows that customer service is really important for them. I can see why this dash camera is award winning as it has great features. One of my favorite feature is night vison with wide lense which captures so much of view. As camera is used for evidence purposes most of the time, the more it captures, the better it is. I really like the loop feature where it overrides older footage as the space on memory card runs out which saves me time from deleting the footage manually. However it also protects the footage in case of accident which is a great feature as it gives user piece of mind.
One downside which comes to mind is it uses mini usb connection instead of more popular micro usb connection. All my other devices are mini usb instead of micro usb and it keeps the standard throughout the home.
I just wanted a plain and simple video camera recorder. You mount it and drive and it auto records no need to press record or anything. I love this little machine muchbetter than all the other ones I have bought in the past. This device is a life saver especially in Canadian winters where roads get slippery. This will cover your butt if someone tries to blame you for an accident. Highly recommended.
I have had dash cams since they first came out, they all had there own quirks and issues and I dont mean over time, thats different, I mean right out of the box. Either the footage is not whats really shown, or the resolution is not claimed to what is advertised, or the angle of display is smaller than it should be, list goes on and they were ALL $160 and above!
After 3 weeks of not having one, I thought to get this one, its "cheap", so why not, it will help in an accident, hopfully at least. But this is it, everything they advertised checks out, the resolution, the angle is 168 degrees, they round it to 170, thats FINE, a true 170 is more than enough. It is HD, at FULL HD that is, and more than that the colors are there, and at nighttime this must use a particular sensor that the $400 ones had, where you basically "see" at night with it, to a point, but its better than pitch black, you will see things fairly clearly on a street with some lights.
Design, not much changed with designs, they are this way, or over the mirror, or a wedge, the latter two pose issues, one your mirror might not like the extra weight, and the wedge, you cant really "use it on the go" and is limited. So this option is to me the best way to go, I prefer to mount it off to the right of the rearview mirror, you can even see it, then route the power cord up and around and viola no wires.
Of course it was just received but should anything "strange" happen in the next 6 months to a year I will be back to edit this as it seems pretty hot and others too like it, so we will see!
This is a great camera. I only have insurance to protect the other guy so in case I'm in an accident I can prove what happened. In less than 2 weeks of ownership I've had a car cross the center line, a semi speed up to 70mph in a 55 since he didn't want me to pass, and a snow plow truck swerve toward my car at a stop light, I've also enjoyed being able to back track what happened when something looked odd. I did see a night vision and it was not super clear. It's enough to see the center line, cars, and the road. No road edges, ditches etc (but this is country driving). City night driving is muchbetter due to street lights. For $44, you CAN'T go Wrong! I've wanted one of these for years but they were $200 last I looked.
I thought this records on movement through the day but it only records when your car is on. I don't think there is a battery life, so I leave mine plugged into my cigarette lighter 24/7. There is a specific sound it makes when your car turns on and off to let you know it's on. (This can be turned off in settings).
Overall I'm completely satisfied for the price, angle of capture during video, suctioning to the window, size (no one knows it's there unless you tell them), SD size capture (I get 36 hours on my camera SD).
After you watch your videos they'll show up on your computer as the Time/Date and the videos are 3 min increments and super easy to forward or backward to the next video!
I believe if you are buying this to watch your teens driving, insurance purposes, crazy people around your car when you're in it it's a GREAT BUY! I would not purchase this if you're looking for EXTREME crystal clear videos (remember once uploaded through Amazon the quality dips) the quality really is good, tbh it's better than what you see on COPS dash cams.
