I could have accepted that it was my fault for ordering something that clearly is subjective on compatibility with Aura Sync. As you read their disclaimer at the bottom of the offer window about being 3 pin and not 4 pin it becomes painfully obvious that they are simply taking advantage of consumer’s assumptions that make them think that this system works with all Aura Sync applications when it does not. They mislead the customer by spouting compatibility with Aura Sync in the whole offer until the disclaimer at the end explaining that the product is not compatible with Aura Sync because the system will not work with new boards because they are old 3 pin design. The seller is misleading the consumer by not stating up front from the beginning in big words that it only works on old boards and not any current applications. This is strait up fraud because at the very end of the posting disclaimer the seller states that if it does not work with Aura Sync then just use it on it’s own and try to match the two systems to work in unison and yet seperate. This is the biggest proof that they know it does not work and used a cop out telling the consumer that they are stuck with something that the seller knew would not work on new applications.
Really... just try to match the two systems up to run together ..: what a joke... and impossible... that is why we bought your product.... trying to get it all together with Aura Sync ... and alll your company can say is ... Oh Well .. Deal With It.
The 3 fans connect directly to the controller. You will not be able to control the fans' airflow via the motherboard.
The controller connects directly to an older style HDD 4 pin connection from the power supply to power the controller.
The controller has 2 options for PC connectivity, one is provided via a 2 pin connection from the controller to the motherboard's reset switch 2 pin header (which I did not use or tried), the other, labeled MB Sync, connects to a 3-pin RGB header on the motherboard rated at 5V.
Motherboards these days will have multiple RGB headers, some are rated at 12V (4-pin), others at 5V (3-pin).
I have an MSI motherboard with 2 JRGB labeled headers for 12V compatible fans/led strips, and 2 5V headers labeled JRAINBOW (which is where I connect the MB Sync connection from the controller) while the other is for Corsair products and labeled as JCORSAIR which I have not used.
I am able to control the lights of the fans through the motherboard's software's Mystic Light by selecting the JRAINBOW option within the software.
Do not replace your radiator's fan with a fan from this kit. It will under perform and cause your CPU to overheat and potentially damage your CPU. Example, the airflow from the fan in my water cooled setup maxes out at 76.52 CFM while these fans' airflow based on what is written on the product page from amazon is 20.34 CFM.
Fans aren't noisy at all.
I hope this helps someone since both the comments and the Q&A sections are vague and sometimes incorrect.
The 1 star rating is for the fact that the last (and I do mean LAST) Aigo product sent to me at least did not smoke anything while trying to get this set of fans to work.
I don't even want to waste any more time going over to the cooler's page to write a review...so I'll do a quick one here. Just stay away. New CPU AIO cooler fresh out of the box...and the PUMP doesn't work? That could have screwed somebody up real good. The LED lit on the pump but the pump did not power on.
Bad taste in my mouth, AIGO? I'm still spitting. Back to the name brands...I should have respected past lessons.
Amazon is top shelf in their customer service. Recently read that Bezos said Amazon would eventually go bankrupt...Lord, I hope not! What's a fellow going to do when that happens??? I'm hoping I read some fake news that day.
UPDATE: fan noise only happening when fan speed is at highest, at normal speed noise levels were acceptable. There are about 50 different lighting modes for you to choose from. Again, great budget RGB fan kit!
- Lights are bright
- Multiple settings for lighting
- Cheap alternative
- Install is easy asf
- Quiet asf
- Depending on which controller you get buttons can be switched around (ie... clicking red will make fans be green instead)
- Speed is locked at 1200rpm which aight but could be better
- Some colors are washed out (ie... Orange looks like peachey color)
Overall: Not bad 7.8/10
