I read reviews on this product about how small the pieces are and poor quality but I disagree. I buy a lot of STEM items for my children so I can have one on one with them. My 4 year old absolutly loves these counting tools. She sits and just explores. I work with her on how to use them and we make games out of it. Of course if you're buying this for a child who doesn't understand not to put non food items in their mouths this is not the product for you, if you're not willing to help your child understand how to use these tools then this product is also not for you but for those willing to invest in your child's future I highly recommend this product.
I haven’t used it with my children yet, but so far it’s nothing not to like. I think the size is actually fine, I just think some people didn’t have a better idea of the size which is why I saw a lot of “smaller than expected reviews”. So I’m posting detailed pictures of the items so people know what to expect. I think it would be VERY helpful for my children(2.5, 4, 5) to be able to have tangible math! The only thing I would I say is I would they were square to eliminate the rolling of the sticks lol. But that’s barely a con

The size is good to me!

I typed up a sheet of equations (1+1=_) and my daughter uses the blocks to "write" the equation and then counts the sticks out for each block. Then she counts the sticks all together to get the answer and she writes it down on the sheet. The simple visual of the sticks definitely helps with basic addition and subtraction. This is a great learning tool for preschool/kindergarten aged children.
My son was having a hard time relating addition to subtraction. Bought these for him and what he was having a hard time with for months he got within a week. Honestly he didn’t need them for long but they make his math homework easier for him to visualize and a month later he doesn’t even need them he just likes to use them. This really makes math fun.
Bought this to help my Kindergartener understand number sense and this was a great hands on project to use everyday. We have used it every day since we received it. It was a bit smaller than I expected. I thought the sticks were going to be larger as well, but once I got over that...I’ve been quite happy with how it has helped. Very nifty, cost effective, and versatile. I wish it had a lid to it to snap on so I didn’t have to put it back in the box every time to avoid losing the pieces.
