This is a great 5 megapixel camera with a 360° viewing angle. It was easy to install with 2D barcode setup via Amcrest View Pro app. I had this camera up and running in less than 10 minutes. It was mounted in a coffered drop ceiling panel (see attached pictures). Despite the 2” recessed panel, it still had a very good viewing without obstruction. This camera was also integrated into a home security system (Linux based Zoneminder) with ease. Using the RTSP over TCP using (H264/H265 encoding) the camera’s video stream was displayed via zmNinja and tinyCam Monitor Pro apps. I was very impressed with the night visibility and quality (see attached screenshot). Overall I’d give this camera a 5 star rating due to ease of setup, 360° viewing angle and image quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a POE Outdoor/Indoor Fisheye camera from Amcrest
Reviewed in the United States on 27 June 2021
I will confess to having extension cords running through my attic to power two D-Link fisheye cameras outdoors (although not weatherproof). After eight years I have now removed those extension cords and replaced the cameras with the Amcrest POE OUTDOOR Fisheye cameras.

The installation process VERY easy (since I was only replacing two D-Link fisheye cameras). The installation SHOULD be done with the appropriate Amcrest smartphone app. (I was resistant to use the app on my first few Amcrest cameras and wanted to use my computer. The smartphone install is the way to go on all Amcrest cameras...just be sure to use the correct app. I have two Amcrest camera apps and the Blue Iris camera app. You can always use a computer later to make changes to the camera settings.)

I am in the process of replacing my D-Link cameras with Amcrest models. I have eight Amcrest cameras (five different models). All Amcrest cameras I use are POE and outdoors.

I use Blue Iris software to manage and record/view the cameras. (Blue Iris is top-notch and so is Blue Iris customer support!)

It is wise to assign all cameras a static IP. Since I know the IP addresses of my existing cameras, I was able to find the IP of a new camera when I added it to Blue Iris. I then went through the IP address to change the camera IP setting to static.

    So, here's the negative.

Amcrest has an IP Config Tool program. It does not display correctly on my Windows 10 computer. Contacting customer support at Amcrest to resolve this issue was a catastrophe. I was asked to submit all sorts of unrelated information and finally gave up.

This was not my first tango with Amcrest support. They often have cameras in their store which are out of stock, BUT are not shown to be out of stock (another negative). (Moral of story: buy through Amazon.)

Maybe their support department is underfunded, overworked, short-handed, etc... I don't blame the employees, but I do blame the company for failing to provide a reasonable level of service. DO NOT expect reliable customer support.

I HAVE, ON THE OTHER HAND, FOUND AMCREST CAMERAS TO BE EXTREMELY RELIABLE. Something which D-Link has been a miserable failure: customer support, camera updates, and camera reliability.

(Note regarding the photo: the camera is mounted on a large box. The box was necessary for my previous D-Link cameras.)

Negative: cameras tend to go out of stock for long periods of time. If you find a camera you like, buy it AND get the quantity you anticpate needing.

One other side note... If you are searching for software to manage your cameras, search out Blue Iris software. I highly recommend along with their customer service (free and paid).

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice hardware, glitchy software, in this 360-degree power over ethernet camera, 3.5 stars
Reviewed in the United States on 23 March 2021
Amcrest cameras have been quite versatile and reliable over the years, and I'm delighted to get my hands on the new fisheye POE 5MP camera with audio input. However, after a week of testing, I can only give it 3.5 stars (if Amazon allowed fractional ratings) for the following reasons.

    Pros first:
+ High-resolution, clear image and video, when the recordings worked (more to details later)
+ Very clear night vision, as there is no glass dome on this one to reflect the IR illumination, night view is very crisp
+ Low latency/fast response time, since this one is hardwired into my network, feels more snappy for both live view and playback compared to my other Amcrest wifi cameras
+ Nice slim form factor, very low profile disk for fish-eye cameras of this resolution
+ Local storage option with micro SD card slot
+ Familiar Amcrest app for smooth set up and navigation. This was the easiest of my Amcrest cameras to set up, actually
+ Audio recording provides greater situational context in surveillance applications. Quite sensitive microphone, where it even picked up my light switch flicking on and off
+ Compatible with Amcrest wifi camera's power adapter for initial set up and trouble shooting
+ Amcrest is a great made-in-USA vendor, based in Houston, I think. Very responsive and good customer service, even when Texas was struggling with post blizzard power outages

    Cons:
    - I understand the lack of an AC adapter for this POE design, but for ~$200 camera, I wish Amcrest would have included a reasonable length of ethernet cable. This one came with just the camera and no AC or CAT cable at all
    - Glitchy image acquisition firmware, where the camera takes noticeably longer than other Amcrest cameras to deactivate night vision when ambient lighting brightens. In my photos attached, the one taken while my ceiling flood lights are on still look gray-scale rather than full color, compared to the one taken with lights off in the dark room. You can tell the lights are on as the bulbs are bright white in the photo
    - Glitchy file recording firmware, where during my few days of testing, I encountered two types of video file errors that I've never seen on my other Amcrest cameras. First, I have a 14MB MP4 file that should be a video clip, yet Windows 10 is unable to play it and shows 00:00 for video duration. Second, the recording from right before I unplugged the camera (to move it to a different location) was corrupt and had the "MP4_" extension. Manually changing the file extension to MP4 did not make the 14MB file playable. To be sure, Amcrest does not advertise this camera as vandal-resistant, so there probably isn't power failure recording protection

I may have gotten a defective unit, or Amcrest may already be working on a firmware upgrade for this very new model, but for now, these software issues make it hard for me to recommend this ~$200 camera to friends. I have had much better luck with Amcrest's wifi indoor and outdoor cameras.
