The first item I've ever returned on Amazon but I don't regret doing so.
Arlo did get it to me in good time & when I could not use the camera as intended that did give a full refund minus a shipping charge for the original postage to get the camera to me when it was advertised as "FREE SHIPPING" and it was not the case.
I would be happy to look at other Arlo cameras and any other products, but I will need to confirm the operating necessities for the item's use.
The software process is slightly strange. The design seems to be based on the idea that you only want to answer the door remotely. If the doorbell rings, and you don't first pick up your phone and either answer or reject the call, the doorbell will assume you're not home and play a message to the person at the door - even if you've already opened it.
It doesn't have the obvious concept of "home or away" - there's no way to tell it to just act like a dumb doorbell when you're at home and are able to answer the door yourself.
Another obvious feature it lacks, which other doorbells like Ring have, is the ability to start recording video when the button is pushed. Instead, video is only recorded when motion detection triggers (which is useless if you live on a busy street) or when you answer the call through your phone.
Love the hardware and the design but the overall experience is nowhere near as good as Ring.
Nowhere in the information when I was buying or in the information that came with the camera did it say "it must have WiFi to operate.
I have returned the camera to "Wireless 1" for a partial refund. They are charging my for the shipping costs when it was advertised as having "Free Shipping". So when they say "Free Shipping" is ist a lie, THEY ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH & it may be that Amazon allow their sellers charge shipping costs when items are sold on their platform as having free shipping.
Except it connects through Wi-Fi only. This product will not sync to an existing Smarthub or base station.
This also means that when the "free 3 month subscription" lapses, all the features no longer work. You will receive motion notifications and when someone pushes the bell only. No video will be recorded or stored.
The doorbell also has no chime and currently will not work with the Arlo Chime (which needs connecting to a base station or hub).
If this was cheaper, it would make the sting of another subscription service a little milder.

On a sunny day it struggles to replace the battery charge used overnight On a dull day looses 10% of battery charge a day. It was impossible to charge from 10% to a full charged. I had to charge the camera from a phone charger . I got the charge up to 100% then connected it to the solar panel .Its now loosing 5% charge per day. This means the camera battery will be flat in 20 days. Not what I brought the panel for
