5.0 out of 5 stars More than just resilience, a great adventure story!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 June 2020
I obviously don't know him in real life- but from podcasts etc you really can picture Ross talking as you read the book and feel his almost relentless enthusiasm coming through.
I feel the title does the book a dis-service as it's more than a book on resilience, it combines a lit of great thoughts and ideas about resilience along with documenting his journey as he swam around Britain.
As a big fan of stoicism and being resilient, I'm probably predisposed to like this as I already agree with the concepts, but can't recommend it highly enough as an intro to this stuff and a great adventure story to boot. If you want to further your research there are very extensive references to help you.

For me three key points I'd love everyone to get are;
1. Be active, in both mind and body. We've known since Greek times that you need to be both physically and mentally fit to be the best human you can be.
2. If you have kids teach them 1. Be active with them - Ross mentions this a lot, but his long term base helped achieve the swim. You don't have to want your kids to swim around a country to want to set them up to be the best weapon they can be. Build fit, healthy and resilient children - they will thank you for their whole adult lives.
3. If you have friends and family, support them in their endeavours and passions, even if you don't understand them!
Read, enjoy and be resilient!
