There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to routine. Dr. Iscovich shares his original study of routine—learn through his observations how routine can improve longevity, performance, and adaptability. You will be better equipped to construct a routine that works best for you!
Conventional wisdom suggests that the best way to navigate our noisy new world is to accept change. Open up to novelty. Go with the flow. Live in the moment. Embrace the relentless pelting of content minute by minute. But routine experts Angel Iscovich, MD, Joe Garner, and Michael Ashley are here to say that’s a bad idea. Humans don’t just benefit from structure; they require it.
Years of observation and practice led to their breakthrough concept of routineology, the key to optimize your life and the cure for crisis. Routineology’s fundamental prescriptive is to look inside and live your life in a “time bubble” to find purpose, meaning, and joy. Offering insights from top performers and stories of triumph over adversity, this book demonstrates that routine isn’t just a good idea—it’s imperative for surviving and thriving today.
Live a life of deeper meaning and navigate toward a better world with The Art of Routine.

Conventional wisdom suggests the best way to navigate our noisy new
world is to accept change: Open up to novelty. Go with the flow.
Embrace the relentless pelting of content minute by minute. Dr. Angel Iscovich, aka Dr. I, is here to say this is not the best way to journey through our lives—and in fact, may go against our very nature.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to survivors from World War II, Dr. I
grew up in the shadow of this devastating conflict. Though his
family struggled with little to call their own, he immigrated to the U.S.
where he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy (Summa Cum Laude) from
the University of Puget Sound before matriculating to the University
of California San Francisco School of Medicine and obtaining his post
graduate training in Psychiatry and practicing as an Emergency Physician.
His interest in leadership, organizational development, and strategy led Dr. I to C-suite positions in the corporate health care sector, as well as chairing Direct
Relief, the top-rated charity in the U.S. Such broad experience affords
Dr. I with a unique view into human behavior, aiding in his continual
search for meaning and purpose in our lives, the subject of his
book: The Art of Routine: Discover how Routineology Can Transform Your Life
(Skyhorse, 2021).
The crux of Dr. I’s book is that humans not only require structure,
they thrive in it. From the womb to the tomb, we create and recreate
numerous dynamic “Time Bubbles,” offering us meaning, fulfillment, and
purpose. Also, implementing routine in one's life can lead to better health, joy, and overall fulfillment.
Dr. I has been featured in many publications, including Forbes and Entrepreneur, and has appeared on The Dummies Podcast and Dr. Drew’s nationally syndicated radio show. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Potentia Analytics, providing healthcare, political, and financial analytics. He is also on the Board of Directors of Office Works, a Healthcare staffing company. An Advisor to DASH Systems, a Technology “Last Mile” Delivery Startup, he previously served as advisor to InTouch Health, a Robotics and Telemedicine Company, acquired by TeleDoc (TDOC).
Dr. I lives with his wife Lisa and their dogs in Santa Barbara, California.

Angel introduces the concept of Routineology which reminds us how important routine is in our lives. From womb to tomb we are governed by biochronological factors. Routine creates stability, reduces stress, and less stress ultimately promotes better health. He provides fascinating data driven examples illustrating a correlation between higher life expectancy and daily routines.
Throughout the book Angel gives us examples through well-known individuals such as the Rolling Stones and Jeff Gordon how routine contributes to thriving in life. He even gives an example of a young pilot who used routine to survive during the Vietnam War as a POW in a prisoner camp for over five years.
Angel leaves you with the troubling thought about the impact of AI in our lives and how it can “help” with our daily routines. Although AI is a powerful tool that helps us make decisions, the author points out that it can slowly creep into our lives deteriorating our critical thinking skills. He reminds us that we learn from our failures. When we allow AI to remove failure, we miss our chance to learn. Through learning, we advance as a people.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking at establishing or reestablishing their purpose and meaning in life!
