My husband loves Asian but needs to be careful of sugar and carbs for health reasons. So far we've done the crispy sesame beef and the sesame chicken and he's been very happy. I suspect this is a book we'll keep coming back to every week.
I purchased this book to add more variety to my paleo diet. Recipes are flavorful and easy to make, full color photos are very inspiring and realistic. My parents absolutely loved the dishes as well. Taste is similar to the food that we tried when we travelled in China. I appreciate all the time and effort that the author put into creating this book. Thank you!
After moving from California to a small farming town in the midwest, I became a bit homesick when shopping through the local supermarket and slowly realizing that my prospects had become quite limited as far as flavor was concerned. I was definitely spoiled, and I needed help. When I found this book, and ChihYu's website IHeartUmami.com, I was saved. She packs so much flavor in simple and quick recipes. My family eats a Paleo diet. We have limited access to "traditional" Asian ingredients, but she made it work. I can find all of the ingredients needs in my local shop. Anything special can most certainly be found inexpensively from amazom.com. My kids rave about and beg for Chicken Katsu. We also love sesame beef, kung pao chicken, and my personal favorite, Lion's head meatballs. I cook from this book at least twice per week and have yet to be bored. These recipes are incredibly easy and flavorful. Also, the size and dimensions of the book are perfect. Not too big, and not too small. It fits in your hand just right.
I enjoy cooking, especially real food. You know the stuff with no added garbage or ingredients I can't pronounce. I have been a following I Heart Umami on Instagram for a few years now and love all the recipes we have made. I have been anxiously waiting for the cookbook since I preordered.
The book has exceeded my expectations. The book and accompanying photos (mouth watering, you're hungry now) are gorgeous. Recipes are easy to follow and make creating delicious meals quick and easy.
Whether you are an experienced home cook or someone starting their culinary journey, you will find several recipes if not all of them are right for you. There are simple dishes, meals for quick weeknight dinners, and more elaborate dishes. All-in-all I highly recommend Asian Paleo.
I have been a long time fan of Chihyu. I have made so many of her recipes. And I've been using her Cook Once Eat All Week program for a while. Her instructions are clear and easy. I actually feel like a fancy chef when I'm done and no one knows how way it was! Her recipes don't have a large quantity of unfamiliar ingredients and yet when your finished the meal tastes so complex! I am so happy to have discovered Chihyu and her recipes. Her book is beautiful, well made, easy to follow, and her tips and substitutions are very helpful. I GREATLY recommend this book. In fact my son was visiting the other day and asked if he could borrow it. Now I know what to get him for Christmas!
Loving this Paleo cookbook. A picture with each recipe is a plus & the actual recipes are ones you’ve grown up with; nothing strange or difficult, with a million spices you’ve got to purchase. Looking forward to making the sesame beef and sweet & sour chicken. Came to me in great shape & was really inexpensive for a Paleo cookbook with this many recipes.
So far I have loved every recipe I have tried. I can't eat soy or gluten any more, so I was so happy to find this cookbook that provides alternatives to so may of my former favorites. The Mongolian Beef has become a regular meal!
I like how this book has pictures on almost every recipe. Also, the recipes look moderately easy, and the ingredients are practical. I haven't tried making anything yet, but I enjoy just browsing the book. She has a number of simple, homemade sauce recipes, and a 4 week meal prep guide complete with shopping list. This is right up my alley as someone who leans Paleo and loves Asian food. Beautiful book!
I’m a huge fan of Chih Yu, having followed her on social media for some time. I’m so glad I decided to get her book - it’s filled with great tips and delicious, Asian inspired, healthy recipes. Being Taiwanese American myself, I truly praise her ability to keep the integrity of Asian (especially Chinese/Taiwanese) dishes while putting on a healthy twist to traditional fare with little or no sacrifice to taste. Her sauces are particularly delicious.
