A great art book for fans and people interested in the design process. It's split into sections for the UNSC, the covenant and prometheans - covering weapons, vehicles and characters designs. I would have liked a bit more depth on the weapon designs to see how they evolved to what they are now but that's just a personal thing - I love the iconic shapes of the classic Halo designs. There are a few pages dedicated to the Master Chief as well, which is nice.
Regardless of your feelings towards the post-Bungie take on the Halo universe, the sweeping vistas and epic landscapes get displayed really well here and they are worth seeing.
I've always been a fan and I really enjoyed reading the comments and annotations from the artists too.
So, whether you're a fan or you just enjoy this type of book, i recommend strongly.

Halo has been around for quite some time now. I still remember seeing the first Halo trailer, when it was planned to be a Mac game... Yes, it's been a while and Halo has come to be one of the biggest console franchises ever since. One thing all Halo games (and movies, books etc...) have in common is the spectacular, well crafted sci-fi universe they are set in.

Halo 4 set out on a mission similar to that of the first Halo game: Halo 4 is an adventure, deep into an unkown world, uncharted by mankind, so alien yet so beautiful in display, that you can only admire its presentation.

The accompanying hardcover art book Awekening: The Art of Halo 4 has 192 pages and features 5 chapters: Environments, UNSC, Covenant, Forerunner and War Games. Each chapter speaks for itself, the later (War Games) is dedicated to the game's multiplayer environments and war assets. The book depicts a wide variety of art fidelity, ranging from scribbles and scetches to beautiful full feature drawings, I'd seriously consider to put them on my wall, if I had the space. Almost every page has a few lines of explanation. Only few pieces of art have some kind of caption to it, other than the artists name - but credit where credit is due!

Just like the game, Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 takes you on an adventure to another world, only to make you realize how a dedicated game development art team, can craft a visionary experience, almost hard to believe it's all fiction. You should definately get this book if you are a Halo fan and it's a must have for all art book fans.

Personally I love this book, I am a big fan of both Halo and concept art books and this is one of the best I have come across. It is filled with great pictures and interesting anecdotes throughout. The pictures are high quality and the text is well written and concise. It is very interesting to see the movement from paper to game in the book and I would recommend to anyone interested in concept art.

A lot of gory and strong art with some really good and creepy design. A great product if you are a fan of the franchise and/or interested in production art.

The quality off the art books by Titan Books is however slightly below the ones by Dark Horse in my opinion. They come with these awful protection covers that I hate, since they inevitably get damaged and ugly, instead of having a nice printed cover. The pages are not as thick and some of the pages have a slightly wavy surface because of the amount of ink used in printing.

That being said however, it's still a great book with all the art you love if you are a fan of the franchise. It's not at all a bad quality book, just not made to the same standards as the Dark horse books (Art Of The Mass Effect Universe, The Legend Of Zelda Hyrule Historia etc...).

Bought this as a gift for my brother but it arrived (not sealed) and I had a quick look through. A really nice book with some gorgeous illustrations. If you're a halo fan or just into sci-fi art then this book is a worthy addition to your bookcase. It arrived quickly from amazon and was cheaper than anywhere else. I'll probably have to get one for myself! Five stars from me :)
