Sometimes a cosy book just fills the bill. This was very enjoyable .The characters realistic and the setting well described. I could visit there. I like the introduction of characters which I will probably get to know better j future books.
I just loved the characters in this book, good and bad, they are written about so well. There is a lot of mystery , secrets, and a long ago murder and some new attempts to try and figure out. It’s a lot of fun with a hint of future romance all set around an old B&B. Very good imagination by the authour, wonderfully written fun and mayhem, so much more than a cozy.
A great read. Captures your imagination and at every moment there seems to be a turn or twist you weren't expecting and didn' t even see coming. A delightful read and recommended to all suspense/ mystery story lovers.
Loved all the characters of the town and their relationships. Didn’t pick the murderer. Would like to see where the relationship with the detective goes, so will have to read the next book.
I love the book and the series'. I would recommend the series to everyone. The author has a wonderful way of writing the characters and bringing them to life. I can't wait for the next book.

Amanda has inherited a derelict but beautiful old inn from her recently deceased uncle and aunt. Determined to leave her old life in the big city behind her and start a new one in a quaint small town, she finds that, not only is she unwelcome but there is a body buried in her garden. It soon becomes clear that a murder has been committed and as her uncle and aunt fled the inn suddenly without warning, never to return, they are the chief suspects. Naturally, a local boy handsome (and tall - very, very tall) police detective soon arrives on the scene, along with a rather more useful builder to help her knock the inn into shape, a helpful town lawyer and the evil lady town mayor who is determined to stop her re-opening the inn at all costs. Add a plan involving greedy developers, valuable land, blackmail and a rather unconvincing reason for her relatives to abandon their home in a hurry and I'm afraid I felt that, as the old house was a bit creepy, all that was missing from the plot was Scooby-doo and the gang. It was a nice idea to have Amanda fix everyone's problems along with her new home but somewhat unrealistic and the whole thing was just quite naïve. A pleasant, unsophisticated easy read.
As probably guessed from Twee this is not my usual read, and not sure I'd want to pay much to read any more. However, don't let that put you off having a read of this authors books. Bed, Breakfast and Bones is a nice easy to read time filler with a decent , if somewhat predictable storyline. My great no go are filler pages and while there are a few it didn't stop me from reading the entire book, which by the way often happens! I'm sure in the next installment more time will be put into developing the characters which worries me, (filler pages), also, I like detective or police procedural or thrillers which given the setting here I think would grow a little tiresome rather quickly. I will go back to Robert B Parker, John Locke, Lee Child, and maybe, just maybe, pop back and check out another Carolyn L Dean book sometime in the future .

I've fallen in love with this series and have read the first three books one after the other. Nice people to spend time with, a good plot, enough scenery description that I'd love to visit the town, and I'm delighted the next book'll be along in just a few days. I highly recommend this writer, and the Ravenwood series for any and all cozy mystery lovers.

Amanda has inherited a rundown Inn in a beautiful setting and is determined to bring it back to its former glory.
But things don't work out as she wishes: the mayor is against the idea of having an Inn in the quiet town and when a body is found in Amanda's garden it doesn't help her dream of restoring and eventually having guests at the Inn.
