Cult band of the late 1960's, though nobody suspected at that time that their big hit would cement that status.
The sound of the band was down to two elements : a sometime orchestral backing and the powerful voice of the outstanding Steve Ellis.
The 45 vinyl disc was the holy grail for pop singers until recent times and in those days you did everything you could to produce the perfect sound combination. That included session musicians if necessary (many groups including Love Affair used them) and the addition of a fine wide ranging musical accompaniment such as an orchestra, or banjo or piano for example.
It worked wonderfully for Love Affair and this cd is the result. Yes it's nostalgia for many but for others here are examples of what made the 60's swing. Superb stuff.
As an aside 'Everlasting Love' was penned and sung by soul artist Robert Knight in a much lower key, almost muted in comparison to the up beat Love Affair version. If you're interested listen to the stunning disco version of 'Everlasting Love' by Euro star Sandra, a real blockbuster version which subsequently became a huge Euro hit.
