Love this book. Got it together with a doctor's/nurse's kit for my daughter who dislikes going to the doctor's. The only thing I wish it featured were actually people in the pictures, such as pictures of doctors and nurses. I'm not sure the kid is making a connection that it's about a doctor's visit.

I wish this book had been available when I was selecting the collection for a new elementary school library some years ago. It would definitely have found a spot on the shelf! Free of stereotypes, accurate, warm and encouraging, gender neutral--it checks all the right boxes. Smiley-faced doctor tools and giggling organs (when the doctor palpates them) make this book fun and appealing as well as medically sound. The text encourages children to feel brave and proud for taking care of their body and, in closing, gives the child a future perspective by suggesting that "You might become a doctor some day." I bought a copy to donate to our local public library's children's collection.
