Lindon has a year left.
When his time runs out, he’ll have to fight an opponent that no one believes he can beat. Unless he learns sacred arts the right way, from scratch, he won’t have a chance to win...and even then, the odds are against him.
In the course of their training, he and Yerin travel to the Blackflame Empire, where they fight to master an ancient power left behind by a fallen clan. This is Lindon’s chance to learn a true Path, but there are those who do not wish to see these lost techniques revived.
Success means a chance at life, but failure means death.
In the sacred arts, those who risk the most travel the farthest.

Lindon has a deadline. A year to advance enough to face a gold cultivator in single combat. Problem is that the gold is advancing as fast as he is and he's only an iron cultivator. His adoptive family has thrown him in the deep end and are pushing him to the limit. In this entry the story expands to the Blackfire empire which has many factions which are at one another's throats. Plenty of character development and growth along the path of cultivation. Along the way it is revealed that the multiverse is under threat. Just what Lindon and his sword sister's role will be in this conflict is yet to be revealed. I'm enjoying the series to date.

If Unsouled is the prologue of the series and Soulsmith is the glimpse to the bigger world, Blackflame is the meat of the plot.
While the mixed message and some consistency problem regarding arbitrary power levels are still there, Will Wight didn't lose a beat with this one.
Blackflame has stronger and bigger plot than its prequels and it promises a lot more for the future installments. With concise pacing, complex intrigue, and explosive climax, Blackflame is the strongest installment of Cradle series so far.

Will Wight isn't just my favourite Indie author, by orders of magnitude, I think he just might be my favourite Author (Sorry Sanderson). Will has written three different and amazing series and continues to pump out books at an incredible pace. Cradle is my favourite of his worlds and Blackflame doesn't dissapoint. Read cradle then start with House of Blades.
Warning you may not sleep for the next couple of days but it will be totally worth it!

If you enjoy fantasy you will love this, the third installment of what is shaping up to be an epic series. Personality i love a good internally cohesiveness magic system and if you can make that work whilst keeping the character's interesting (and not omnipotent) then you have me eating out of your Palm.

Even better than the first two books in the series. The mixing of short and long term plot lines makes it a very good read. I particularly liked how the viewpoints shifted between characters rather than staying focused on Lindon

Damn this series just gets better and better as the books continue, Holy moly the magical system is phenomenal. The Oriental setting is just amazing, so action packed and fast paced will have you so intrigued right from the start till the end. Lindon has a deadline. A year to advance enough to face and fight a gold cultivator Jai Long in single combat. His adoptive family Eithan, Orthos the giant turtle and Fisher Gesha has thrown him in the deep end and are pushing him to his limit. In this entry the story expands to the Blackfire empire which has many factions which are at one another's throats. Plenty of character development and growth as we watch Lindon and Yerin progress along the path of cultivation. Along the way it is revealed that Suriel has discovered the multiverse is under threat. Just what Lindon and his sword sister Yerin roles will be in this conflict is yet to be revealed. Absolutely fantastic, now for book four, I very highly recommend to all fantasy fans...😁💥🔥

Each book is better than the last. I could barely put this book down. The world building, and that character building in the previous books now makes everything smoother and clearer. Going straight to download the next one!!

This series never fails to impress me. Each book manages to surpass the last with unbelievable characters and action. A definite must to continue on with the next book.

Matters proceed apace, plots within plots. Who knows where it will end? Not I for certain. Eager to discover though, so, off to the next book!

Very good, pacy and doesn’t hang about - doesn’t have realms of characters and is very focused on core characters progressing within overall story arc. Nicely done and worth diving into.
