unit is not as reliable as its made out to be.

The unit broke down on me the second time using it as the speed setting in 2 does not work as that the only high speed setting the unit has. for some unknown reason, when I was using it, had noticed a small noise and the unit dropped in power to only 1 setting and would not go up anymore. I thought maybe it was due to be overheating as was using it a bit that day and turned it off to cool down. I did not turn it back on until the next day as it was well and truly cooled down. As I turned it on it did not work in the 2 speed setting only one. Pretty crap as I had an old one just the same that had set speed from 1-6 and head if or well over two years with no problem until engine broke down so guess it had its time. Brought this one and was very disappointed. But guess what I don't really think there is anything you can do for me so not really expecting anything in return. merry Xmas.

Switching from blowing to Vacuum

Whilst this model has an additional feature of mulching over the older Bosch Blower vac. it is not as easy to use. The older model you can switch from blower to vacuum at a flick of a switch. This model has to be disassembled and the re-assembled switching. This is a pain. Further there is nothing wrong with my old blower /vac except the zip on the collection bag is broken and Bosch no longer keep spare collection bags for it.

The assembly instructions were simple to follow. Once assembled the unit sat nicely on my shoulder and was easy to manoeuvre. The noise level of the unit is very bearable without earmuffs, silent if you put a pair on.
I had no trouble at all picking up mounds of dried leaves or lines of dry leaves sitting up against my brickwork. When I activated the TURBO setting the power increased immensely and I was left with very finely mulched leaf litter. Perfect for scattering back onto the garden.
Only used it a handful of times so far but very impressed with it's performance so far. Make sure you register it ONLINE after purchase and you'll get an extra 1 YEAR of warranty.

This is a replacement for the same excellent model which lasted approx nine (9) years of reliable service. Excellent blowing capacity and light weight to use.

A minor negative is that the vacuum attachment is a slightly cumbersome design. Unimportant really, if one blows into a corner and then sweeps into a pan.

Not easy to transition between blower and vacuum

I've owned a couple of other brands of blower/vacs, they all switched between functions easily. This one, not so much. It comes with a separate attachment end for the blower function and another for the vac function and one has to detach the one to use it in the other function. I only use the vacuum to gather up leaves for compost etc., so not an issue for me, I just keep it in vac function. Now the good news which is why I give it 4 stars overall. It is a powerful machine, it grinds leaves up to a lovely fine texture unlike my previous machines. It can clog but not as much as the others and clearing it is straightforward. The bag is heavy, durable and well designed, it should last, unlike the bags with the other blower/vacs. It is also a bag with a large capacity and can get quite heavy. It comes with a shoulder strap, I haven't used that as I find it hurts my shoulder on the other machines (which also had straps.) The bag has a super heavy zipper which helps prevent debris jamming it, and a flattened base so it can be set down and not topple over. I got this on a Black Friday Special, so I'm really happy with the price, not sure I would have paid the full price but now I am a convert.

The Bosch blower/vac is a good little unit and performs very well. Care when using it in vacuum mode as it can suck in small stones or pebbles and and harder material that will, over time, damage the fan blades . Blow your leaves into a corner, change the fittings to a vac and suck them up. Job done. My only con is that you cannot buy spare fan blades.

Do not waste your money

Dislike its ability to do what its supposed to do ie pick up leaves. It is pretty much useless, more trouble than its worth.
Save your money buy a good rake.
It works for the first minute or then performance drops down to maybe 10%, it seems to "choke" does not matter if you are trying to suck up small or large leaves, it will NEVER pick up a pile of leaves, its only good for sucking up the odd one or two laying on top of the grass...pretty much useless for what it is advertised for.
