The reason for the four stars not five is that although as my headline states, this is a good read, I felt irritated by Georgie. I feel I should not have, but I just did! I understand the chronic pain and anxieties she experienced, but hey, she was warned right at the beginning by a GP that law may be too stressful for someone with Chron’s disease. She was SO insulted!!! But he was right!! Then, 10 years later when it became a big problem again, she was surprised? (3 small children, working full time).
Finally, Georgie did not HAVE to work full time right from when her children were one year old. Their dad is a very high earner, my point being that many mothers would give their eye teeth to be able to stay home with their babies or at least work part time, until they start school. She appears to slightly denigrate that state of being. Actually, more than slightly. So there we are. My explanation for the missing star. Hate me!

At 24, life was good for Georgie Dent. After graduating with top marks she landed her dream job at a prestigious Sydney law firm and moved in with a boyfriend she adored. She had the world at her feet and no right to break. But she did. Badly. Within a year Georgie was unemployed, back living with her parents and suffering such crippling anxiety that she ended up in a psychiatric hospital.
Breaking Badly is the story of a nervous breakdown in slow motion, a life that fell apart and what it took to put it back together again. Brutally honest and warmly engaging, it's a must-listen for anyone who sometimes feels close to the edge.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I wanted to like this book. I tried, I really tried but eventually her level of privilege and whinging about it annoyed me.
