Product description
Vinyl LP pressing of this 1985 album from the British Rock band led by guitarist/vocalist Mark Knopfler. When their self-titled debut album was released in 1978, the band garnered plenty of attention but it took another seven years before BROTHERS IN ARMS turned them into global superstars. After one more studio album, the band split up but they left behind a lasting legacy that continues to be embraced by new fans and new generations every year.

After listening to side A hearing Money for Nothing I was blown away. The double LP treatment gives stellar sound. Highly recommended.

Awesome album.

Awesome album...reminds me of my dad so much. He had it on cassette and I'd walk to school with my Sony Walkman and massive headphones in all weathers singing like no one could hear me....now I'm 45 and still singing like no one can hear me but the cat does pull some odd faces. #VinylRevival

Poor pressing and labeling and track organisation
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 August 2018Verified Purchase
Item returned. This is a double album. One of the discs is poorly pressed being splattered with crackles and pops and inter track surface noise. The other disc is fine but has the labels on both sides positioned way off centre, not a deal breaker but just reinforces the lack of quality control. Also this possibly does not need t be a double album, if it does then I personally would have preferred it if it had been pressed over 3 sides; so little music on each side it is irritating to have to get up 3 times to play the album. Lol the music of course is stunning.

Superb 5.1 Super Audio CD.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 June 2020Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of Dire Straits since I first heard Private Investigations from the Love Over Gold album playing on a CD at a High Fi show in Blackpool. That was when CD's were all sparkly and new and this was my first encounter with the new format and Fire Straits. Back then people used to claim that you could still a hole in a CD and it would still play perfectly - yeh, right. I think the player was a Morantz which was a part of Phillips at the time. It was a smallish top loading contraption but sounded pretty good. Suffice to say I bought all of Dire Straits albums. Initially on vinyl but subsequently on CD and more recently on SACD. It's great to be able to play this timeless music and now with all the clarity and panache that this 5.1 disc provides. I can't say that there is a bad track on this album. Even now at the inflated prices that some SACD discs go for I think they are worth the money. Realistically, one has to ask is an album ever really worth £100? Given that this one is less than £11 its an absolute steal - and is perhaps what those over inflated 'rare' SACD's would cost, if only the medium had taken off.
Listening to track 9 - the title track in glorious 5.1 is a joy to behold.
Other tracks on the album are
1 so far away
2 money for nothing
3 walk of life
4 your latest trick
5 why worry
6 ride across the river
7 the man's to strong
8 one world
9 brothers bin arms
In short, a great album made even better by being in 5.1 on a SACD.
If you like Dire Straits and you have the best to play the format, just buy it! At a touch under £11, you won't regret your investment.

Remastered Vinyl Love ... AMAZING
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 February 2019Verified Purchase
This album has been reviewed by so many others, so I’ll just say, Mark Knopfler, Guitars, Synths, MTV, catchy riffs, and even Sting guest appears. IMHO this isn’t actually their best album, for me Love Over Gold is the pinnacle, but my better half loves Bros in Arms so we had to get this, remastered, edition.
But, what a remaster! The vinyl edition is jaw dropping A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! I can’t see the MOFI 45 rpm Audiophile Edition being significantly better at over twice the cost, as this is so good. Seriously if you like Dire Straits and you have a half decent turntable, this will sing, sing, sing (no pun intended) through your speakers.

This album has so many memories for me. In 1986 I bought it on LP for my eldest brothers birthday, I loved it so much he bought me a copy on tape, so that I wouldn't keep on pinching the LP to play. Then we both moved on to CD. Even to this day this is both one of our favourite albums. This album never bores me. 5 stars!
