I love the style of food in this cookbook. The ingredients are affordable and practical, with nothing really bizarre required, but the flavors are great. The recipes are easy to follow and require no special tools or fancy pans. If you've got a pot and a skillet, a knife and a wooden spoon, you can probably make everything in this book.
The other great thing is that a lot of these recipes play nicely with the freezer. I'm always on the lookout for things that I can make in big batches and then freeze, and this book is chock full of them.
I've made quite a few recipes out of this book, and only one was a dud. (The Coconut Chicken Curry called for about twice as much coconut milk as seemed to be needed, and we ended up having to cook it down. The end result was very bland.) Many of them have become regular fixtures on my menu.
I've used a few recipes in this book and I wish there were more in it. The reason I bought it is because I love Beth's blog and I wanted to give a little support since I use so many of her recipes. Keep up the great work Beth! I hope you come out with more recipe books in the future!
I've been following the Budget Bytes website for years. No this book does not have EVERYTHING the blog does, but for those that have not yet checked it out (or just want some basics ready at hand without looking it up), this is a great book to get started.
