Update: After the cable stopped working I reached out to Cable Matters through Amazon and they are getting me a new one under their limited 1 year warranty. Customer service was extremely helpful and I’m super pleased with them.
Original: This cable worked fine for 7 months, then one day it just randomly stopped working. My monitor and laptop ports are both working fine, but the cord just won't register on my laptop anymore.
I used to use Uni USB-C to displayport cable to connect my Macbook Pro 16 inch to LG 38GL905G and it is plagued with problems. A lot of time, the monitor doesn't detect signal and simply restarting the Macbook doesn't solve the issue, it will require me to unplug the cable from the monitor and the replug to solve the issue. I used to blame the problem to Macbook and the monitor, cable is just a cable, right?
I saw online recommendation on this cable because this cable can do 4k@120Hz (although Macbook would still limit to 4k@60Hz). Bought this cable, replaced the uni cable and all the above problem is gone. Cable really Matters!!!
I got this for the better picture quality of DP 1.4. The picture produced jagged and absolutely hideous graphics on my Mac mini 2020 on my brand new 4k monitor that looks great on HDMI 2.0. I just thought I might get better quality out of DP 1.4. My other monitor ran on DP before and it was gorgeous... When I reverted to HDMI, the quality came back. So, it is the cable.
Ordered two of this. The first one last for about 3 months, and the second one less than 2 months. Just hard to believe what can go wrong with these stuff, no moving parts, nothing changes. One day it just completely dies.
