UPDATE: I’ve now been using the new charging cable for several weeks and they’ve held up very well! No tears, cracks or failures as of now...
I’ve never had much luck with charging cords. We are hard on them and they usually don’t last long and I refuse to pay Apple prices. That being said, I just started using these and haven’t had problems yet. I’ll update my review if they crap out on me.

I didn’t realize what I was missing until I found this cable. I use my phone for at least half an hour every night before going to sleep, and I couldn’t do it with a regular straight cable as it would dig into my skin, making it very uncomfortable. I was also concerned about snapping off the connector by moving the phone around.

I found this cable by accident as I was searching for a charger. The more I looked at it, the more it seemed like the perfect cable for nighttime use.

I’m glad I went ahead and because not only does this cable have an L shaped connector, it’s also made up of durable sleeve which is less prone to fraying as the regular rubber sheath.

One thing that I did notice was that it won’t work with thick cases but not a deal breaker as I can always use another cable to charge my daughter’s iPad.

Excellent value for money!

The long 1.8m cable meant that I could plug this behind my king bed and easily reach it around the front with plenty of length left to move around without fearing of yanking it out of the wall socket plug.

The cable is braided so hopefully that will make it long lasting. It is still very flexible (I can almost fold it in half) when compared to other braided cables that are more stiff and do not bend as much.

It charges my iPhone and iPad very fast and attaches very securely. In fact I’d say it attaches more securely than the original charging cable so you do need to give it a good tug to remove it from your device. Also due to the L-shape you cannot just pull the cord like a normal one as it won’t come out. In fact it’s so secure that you can swing your device around by the cord and it won’t come apart! You will need to hold your device securely and hold the main part of the cord that connects to your device to pull them apart.

This could be good or bad. On the one hand if you dropped it you know you can grab the cord and save the device from falling on the ground. On the other hand, if you walked off with it still plugged in then it will pull out of the wall first or it will pull the device out of your hand and make you drop it. A weaker cable attachment will just come apart from the phone if you accidentally walked off with it still plugged in, which might be a good thing as the phone stays in your hand and instead of being yanked out of your hands.

I bought this mainly for the L-shaped plug so that I can use it more comfortably while holding it in landscape orientation to play games or have video meetings.

When holding your phone in portrait mode the cord can stick out to the side of narrower devices but it is probably a non-issue for wider phones. My photos show it on the iPhone 7 for reference. It’s definitely more comfortable to sit it in portrait mode on your tummy when lying in bed compared to a normal cable which digs into your tummy and gets severely bent, however, if you dock it in a phone stand then it can be problematic to attach the cord due to the L-shape not fitting with the phone stand bracket.

The one thing I would have preferred is if the plug part didn’t stick out so much so that it’s flush closer to the device, however, I think they purposely made it stick out a little so that it’s compatible with the hole in thick phone cases and cradles.

I’ve only used it for one week so time will tell if the quality and performance last a long time. The cheap price for two cables made this a great value buy so even if they only lasted one year I can just buy another pair and it would still be cheaper than the more expensive ones. Overall I’m very pleased with these charging cables so far.

With the angled connector, I can rest my phone on my chest without bending and damaging the cable. Not that the cable will be easily damaged, as the braided sleeve and the rubber protecting the join to the connector is strong and seems very durable.
