This book is revolutionary - especially for someone whose idea of veg for a BBQ was a salad and maybe a corn on the cob.

First I made the cauliflower, so simple and incredibly tasty.

Then came the charred cabbage with a pistachio*, raisin, paprika and cinnamon butter sauce.

*couldn’t find a hazelnut for love nor money, it was still delicious.

Game. Changer.

I still cooked steak, however for the very first time the veg at my BBQ weren’t an accompaniment. They shared centre stage with the beef, and everything was more wonderful for it.

To summarise, go and buy Charred right this very moment; it’s a book of deliciousness.

Also worth noting, if you find a bit of veg in the fridge and have a reasonably stocked cupboard, 9/10 you can make something then and there, which is fantastic.

I follow Genevieve on Instagram and she's always so friendly and helpful. I've now got two vegetarians in the house and have found Charred ideal not only for barbecues but for ideas for everyday vegetarian meals too (most can be cooked on a skillet on the hob too - they're all clearly marked).. Our favourite so far has been the white bean, grilled pepper and mozzarella burgers which were absolutely delicious and went down a treat with vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Highly recommend if you're looking for vegetarian inspiration!

My partner and I were fed up of the same old sausage and burger barbecue food and craved something different. I watched a blog by some chef’s reviewing Genevieve’s veggie cook book so thought I would check it out.

I’ve spent the last week trying out a few recipes and everyone has been absolutely delicious! The recipes are super easy to follow, ingredients easy to find and most important of all... taste incredible! I like my meat, but have honestly not missed it because these dishes taste so nice.

Attached some pictures of my cooks so far. The wife absolutely loved the butternut squash stack with pomegranate and feta, even said she would pay for it in a restaurant! Don’t think my food has ever had that kind of compliment before. My family have also said how nice my cooks look so have bought them each a copy of the book.

This book has certainly changed my approach to cooking on a grill. Meat will no longer be the focus of our meals, and if it is included, it will be enhanced by something delicious from this book or inspired by this book.

Very happy with this book and to be supporting such a wonderful and talented chef/author. Buy the book, impress yourselves and also your friends!

P.S. Also check out and follow her Instagram page to learn more about the person behind the recipes, you won’t be disappointed.
