This is a great replacement for an ASA5505, but forget about the SourceFire integration. It is so piecemeal and the client so lacking in detail that the IPS functionality is little more than a novelty. And that is not to mention all of the licenses you need to buy -- many of which come with recurring costs.
Although you do get a 45-day trial license for all three SourceFire products. That was just long enough to teach me that I had no use for them.
But with the $150 per year or so for Smartnet, you get security patches and software updates. And that is all you need if you are just looking for a very solid firewall.
BEWARE: Cisco deployed a faulty clock component to many types of devices. The ASA5506 is one of them. The device may fail completely after 18 months, and replacing the device is the only resolution. If you have a service contract in place, Cisco will replace the unit. For more information see: Cisco Field Notice: FN - 64253
8/2018 UPDATE: Lanstreet is NOT an authorized Cisco reseller (Check Cisco's Website for the list). Although Cisco let me slide the first year and allowed me to purchase SmartNet support -- you need that to upload security patches and bug fixes -- this year when I tried to renew SmartNet, Cisco's Brand Protection Department immediately canceled it saying that devices from Lanstreet are 'unauthorized'.
