COLORADO was recorded mostly live in the studio in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and produced by Young and John Hanlon with additional mixing at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu. Mastering by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, Hollywood. As with every Young release, the resultant Audio fidelity is nothing short of astonishing and sounds as if one is present on the studio floor with the band during the recording.

Gefallen getan.
No one else sounds like Crazy Horse, but this album is not Ragged Glory, it's not Reactor and it certainly is not Everyone Knows This is Nowhere. But it's not bad. It has some clumsy lyrics as Neil's records are apt to have these days, but it has the unmistakable grind of the Ralph/Billy rhythm section. Poncho is out , Nils is in. There are some trademark long rambling jams and some shorter less interesting ballads. I'm glad I picked it up, it won't get the same play time as Rust Never Sleeps, but after all the dross Neil has out recently, this will do.
The folky numbers are nice enough but a little pointless, the rockers are suitably rough and ready like prime CH but it’s all a little forced and really doesn’t differ from any of NY’s latter albums.
I found some of the lyrics very childish and sixth form (The Rainbow stuff although very well meaning is very embarrassing).
The production is particularly strange, everything low in the mix, you need to listen to this LOUD. This is another reason why the bite and grit of prime NY and CH is lost on this album, I don’t want my stereo rattling the windows just so I can hear the scrapes of strings and hiss of amps.
Still, it’s better than most other such rubbish in the charts.
