This is the second instalment for the Aermain Feuds.
I’m hesitant whenever I read a series and fall in love with the characters. Most times the sequel leaves me wanting.
THIS book did leave me wanting … wanting MORE and MORE and MORE!
There are amazing twists and turns and stabs, when you think you know what is going on and where the story is heading, nope the rug is ripped from under you and burnt.
Leaving on an intense cliff-hanger made me counting down the days until number 3 is released!

This book started right where Rebel's Blade left off, and wow, it was addictive!
Book 2 surprised me. I was wondering how this love story was going to pan out. I'm not so great with predicting plot lines, and I don't mind that. It gets me by surprised and sure was I pleasantly surprised how gripping this sequel was! It was fast paced, action packed and had be chuckling at times.
Sage. I love Sage, she's a strong, kick ass character with a lot of sass! At times I thought she was a bit much, stubborn as heck, but it was apart of her character. Although she went through many traumas and betrayals, it was given that she would feel this way. Especially from a reader's point of view, I just wanted her to give everyone a chance! Especially Tehl. But I was glad she could see the friendships forming and trust building in the other characters, such as Sam and Gavriel.
Tehl. He can be awkward, stubborn, arrogant, he is a crown prince after all! But most of his comments came out wrong and with bad timing. Even so, I have grown quite attached to his character, and I'm looking forward to see how his and Sage's relationship will develop. It definitely is intriguing, and I starting to crave for the moments where Tehl and Sage develop an understanding of each other, and more.
Sam, you remind me of a character in another book, who was also a brother of a crown prince. And this made me love him more. He definitely grows on you from Rebel's blade, and I love the development of his and Sage's relationship. They learn to understand each other and have going down a path of a great friendship of their own. I love their banter and that Sage can see through him compared to others. I loved how we saw him being vulnerable and opening up to Sage. Even though I found it to be quick how she trusted him based on her opinions of him previously. However, I'm glad that she has, and I was hoping that Sage would learn to trust him based on the characters we read from his point of view. I also feel that Sage can be there for him like no other person can be.
Gavriel. He's had a special place in my heart since the beginning, with his dark hair and purple eyes. I love how he is a strong character but is also someone that Sage can rely on and turn to. I really hope he finds someone in the end! It's cute to see him softening around Sage and be protective of her.
Rafe, you are so annoying, but it seems you are needed for this plot line. It seems Tehl needs someone there to help him realise his growing affection towards Sage. He's odd, even though he is a skillful rebellion leader.
Marq, the King, is so sweet. And I love the moments of him, even though he is so briefly in it. I enjoyed seeing his character as the all knowing father, shadowing the main characters and leaves you light hearted and feel for him. This is also my thoughts from Rebel's blade.
Lilja is so cool. I love her character and friendship with Sage. She's so interesting and I can't wait to read more about her past.
Mira is such a sweetheart. I love her and Sage's relationship. She's a sweet character and I hope to see more of her in the next book!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Crown's Shield. It was addictive and a page turner, I simply couldn't put it down! Now onto Enemy's Queen to satisfy that crazy cliffhanger! I was left gaping at that ending! Thank goodness I can instantly buy it on my kindle and read straight after this review! Highly recommend reading this series!

This book was bipolar. Sage was over the top and went from tears to triumph every few paragraphs like a drunken teenager. Her situation wasn't the best but I found her relationships with all those men bordering ridiculous the second time round and the fact that nobody an I mean nobody not once told her while she might not like the prince that maybe she should give him a chance coz the dude is a good guy. Not his brother, cousin, father or castle full of people who knew him his whole life thought it prudent to stick up for the guy when she went on rants about him to his mates. Sorry not cool!
The part about the war prisoner was also ridiculous. Oh she only waltz into town helped kill a bunch of people and threatened to set fire to a silo full of women an children no biggy. Yet it's reasonable that sage cracks the sads because she's not being put up in a five star suite an given every amenity. Umm what? Prisoner or war people! Heinous crimes against her people! And let's not forget she's offered up no info to even make her useful yet she's fully clothed, fed and watered. Sage was treated worse sure but she is also a god damn traitor! Did we forget that people? Yet now she's a princess. Wow color me confused.
All in all, plot turns were obvious, characters 2D and while the first book at least had me interested for the second the second was so full of needless drama and shallow relationship building that I don't know if I can be bothered reading the third.
Two stars was achieved because for whatever reason I read the whole book. But it was definitely found lacking.

This book is better then the first one. The story literally takes off from where the first one finishes.
The characters continue to grow and I love the introduction of the ship captain. I’d work for her anytime!! Sign me up.
Was a great page turner and then BOOM…. The story ends and now left wondering what happens next.
Bring on book #3.

Brilliant read that picks up straight from the 1st book. Following Sage as she is cast into the world between being a liaison between the Crown and the Rebels.
Loved every minute of it, reading as Sage is navigating her new found role and the part she plays. You also get an insight into Tehl's thoughts as he does the best he can do despite the circumstances he is facing.
All the other characters are just as intriguing as they also do their best for Aermia. Plots, assassination attempts, fake connections keep me glued to the book - I highly recommend.

Crowns Shield picks up where Rebels Blade finishes. If you liked the first book you will love this second book, the plot has grown further, and its becoming exciting and scary in parts.
Frost Kay made me scream and shout ... I was reading then Bam cliffhanger and it ended. That doesn't mean i didn't absolutely love the book. It just means this cliffhanger was at a crucial part. I need answers.....**patiently waits for book 3**, You will devour Crowns Shield and be hungry for more!
Sage and Tehl start to get along more in this book, circumstances bring them more into each others lives, they find a way to make it work mutually.
We are getting glimpses of the other lands in book two. Sirens Lure (prequel novella) also shares more on other lands, and back stories on a few characters in Crowns Shield.

A great read in the second book of the series

I love, love, loved the first book in the Aermian Feuds series and was left with a massive book hangover at the end, particularly after that cliffhanger. So it's with bated breath that I've impatiently been awaiting this book and silently begging the author in my head to hurry up and finish writing it. And when it arrived on my kindle there might've just been a little bit of jumping up and down in excitement from me.
This book definitely lived up to all the hype I've been giving it. It blew me away with how much I enjoyed it and the awesomeness that it is. Crown's Shield is a fantasy book with lots of action and mystery thrown at you. The romance is a very slow burn and is not at the forefront of the story, which makes a nice refreshing change, so if you like instalove then I'd say this is not the read for you.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one. Be warned though that this book does end on a whopper of a cliffhanger, I'm still reeling over that ending but don't let that put you off what is a great read.

The storyline is developing slowly but surely and it is a refreshing change to have the main characters feuding. The second Prince Samuel is a great character.

This book was great. Safe once again has to overcome everything for the sake of her people. And she does it with a smile on her face. The ending was a slap in the face. And you want so bad to read the next book but at the same time you don't want to know. Loved it.

and get a little more in depth with the love story that was being teased
Reviewed in the United States on 27 March 2018Verified Purchase
The first book ended well and I was so looking forward to the next book in the series.....only to be crushingly let down. The author had the opportunity to develop her characters further, and get a little more in depth with the love story that was being teased. HOWEVER, there was no such thing. The heroine goes through a great tragedy in the first book and holds a very big grudge against the main love interest in this series for it. She was never given the opportunity to find forgiveness for him in this book and I felt like that was such a let down. Not to mention she was overly stubborn and annoying with her attitude. She is given a choice at every turn and she chooses the self sacrificing route every time, but then complains about how she never has a choice and this isn't the life she wanted. She expects everyone to forgive her of her sins, but she refuses to budge on the grudges she harbors.
Now lets talk about Tehl. I actually liked him. I get that he was supposed to be "pragmatically inappropriate", but I never got that vibe. Was he a little harsh with the truth sometimes? yeah. But it never warranted the responses he received from everyone.
Over all I was just very disappointed with the route that this story took. The first book held such promise, but this book crashed and burned the series for me.

Rereading this incredible series, it's that good!

I love this series! I'm rereading them to prepare for the final book being released this summer and I love them even more now then I did before.
I like that in this book we get to see more of Sam and who he truly is. I also love that despite everything Sage goes through she's still strong enough to do what needs to be done. She sees the weakness inside of her and believes that makes her week overall but I wish I could tell her that by not giving into her weakness actually proves how strong she really is. I wish I could tell her that recognizing her weakness and still moving forward makes her so much stronger than people whom don't have any perceived weaknesses. And I wish I could tell her that it's ok to trust Tehl and it's ok to fall in love with him. And damn, I wish I could tell her to just shank Rafe because he's the worst kind of man and no matter the connection between them he has no right to treat her like his possession and the worst part is he feels fully entitled to her and there's no remorse for that stifling possessiveness.
But ya, as you can tell I get so deep into these books that I feel like the characters are real and I'm frustrated that they're not and that I can never be more than a witness to their lives. Frost's writing always does this too me!
