The book unlike the other ones, it continues the story but it happens in such a short timeline. Ever since the series came out, the first time around, I have waited each year to purchase a book from these series. It is obvious that if someone to pick up this book as their first read, they will not understand. Gillian's character development was evident but I wish there was still a little more push with her character at the end of the book, especially with her secret trait. Throughout the entirety of the book, the anticipation of her secret trait will affect Rumplestiltkin's ending to his book builds. I was honestly a little disappointed how it turned out because she really didn't mean as much as you think. However I love the life advice that came from other characters to show the importance of not only knowing your sense of character but the people around you are the ones who can make the most impact on how your story goes.
For any Jax and Gilly shippers out there, the authors do hint there is more between then what is seen by the naked eye, and there's parts where it becomes obvious. It frustrates me that book 6 was the start of it (even though it makes sense because they're just twelve) but I hope there will be book 7 because the author does make it seems like she is anticipating on writing more books.
