Massive Sicherheitslücken

Die Karte tut grundsätzlich dass, was sie soll bzw. was man von einer USV Management-Karte erwartet.
Allerdings hat auch die aktuelle Firmware 1.1.6 noch Bugs (die anderen Rezensenten hatte ja schon von einigen in den älteren Firmwareständen berichtet). So kann man z.B. nicht die Laufzeit der Batterie mit der Diagnose-Funktion bestimmen lassen, hierbei bootet die Karte mehrmals neu und am Ende hat man kein Ergebnis.
Mitgelieferte Doku passt nicht zur Karte, dort wird gesagt, die Karte hätte eine feste IP-Adresse, tatsächlich bezieht sie aber eine über DHCP.
Am gravierendsten sind aber die Sicherheitsschwachstellen. Einerseits gaukelt einem die Software vor, sehr sicherheitsbewusst zu sein. So wird man löblicherweise beim einloggen daran erinnert, Standard-Account und Passwort zu ändern, man kann eigene Zertifikate für HTTPS hochladen (was allerdings umfangreichere Vorarbeiten bedeutet), es wird SNMPv3 unterstützt (wobei v1 per default eingeschaltet ist!). Auf der anderen Seite, benutzt SSH das "diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1" Verfahren, welches schon seit mehreren Jahren nicht mehr eingesetzt werden soll. Der eigentliche "Hammer" ist aber der Umgang mit Passwörtern: Diese werden sowohl in der Web-Oberfläche beim Eingeben im Klartext angezeigt (keine Punkte oder Sterne), der Telnet-Server (wenn man auch Telnet nicht verwenden soll), gibt das Passwort beim Einloggen im Klartext auf dem Bildschirm aus (ok, wird auch im Klartext übertragen) UND *alle* Passwörter (also z.B. auch die SMTP-Passwörter) stehen im Klartext im exportierten Konfig-File. Das darf 2019 nicht mehr passieren....

Da eine USV absolut sicherheitskritisch ist, muss beim Einsatz der rmcard205 noch etwas mehr aufpassen bzw. darf nicht davon ausgehen, dass hier etablierte Sicherheitsstandards eingehalten wird, so dass die Karte bei manchen auf Grund des Verstosses gegen Sicherheitsrichtlinien ggf. gar nicht eingesetzt werden darf.

Fazit: Technische Funktionen (Überwachung/Management) gut, aber nicht herausragend (z.B. gibt es keine Statistik, Langzeitwerte). Firmware nach 4 Jahren immer noch (oder wieder) mit Fehlern, Sicherheit absolut ungenügend. In Summe dafür viel zu teuer.

I have had this now for a little over 6 months and it is a horrible product. I have things set up to shutdown during a power outage. When the power comes back they boot up as expected but this keeps sending a signal to the VM running on the ESX host that the power is still out and everything just shuts back down. I have contacted customer support 3 times regarding this. No one calls back. I sent a FB message. No reply. I would NOT recommend this company or product.

It's a great way to remotely manage your devices that need it. In my case I'm using it on a CyberPower OR2200LCDRT2U UPS system. I would give it 5 stars, but it has two major drawbacks:

1) It's quite expensive just to be able to remote into a UPS that I was hoping would already have that built-in capability.
2) It's TLS 1.1, meaning that chrome shows it as an insecure connection.

Honestly, even given the price, if a firmware updates comes out that updates the TLS version - I'd up this to a 5-star rating. You know what you're paying for, and it just works.

This works fine, SNMP follows the standard UPS formats. Mine got a DHCP address immediately. The web interface is a bit lacking, seems to be a front-end to a telnet/SSH session. Only one person can be logged in at a time, and as far as I can tell there is no way to get a SNMP like status over XML/JSON which would be a great feature.

I also had troubles setting up authenticated SMTP email notifications, it wouldn't work with the same settings I used on other devices (like the Synology DSM). If I can get that to work properly, I'll raise the rating.

But this does the job, and the SNMP works with Synology's network UPS monitoring support.
