I consider myself a predominantly rhythm player. I was looking for strings that could pair nicely with my PRS (25" scale) and have a good tension for Drop D tuning. After trying various sets, I settle on this one. The 52 for the low D feels very good, and having more tension on the strings means I get tighter sounds.
I am lucky enough that I don't sweat much, and it doesn't corrode the strings fast. For this reason, the strings remain usable for a month/two with good sound. If you sweat a lot, or if your sweat is highly acidic, these might not be for you.
Overall I'm very happy with the performance of the strings, and having the 3-pack means I'm saving on each set, which is always nice! I would highly recommend these strings if you play in similar conditions to mine. If you mainly stay in standard E, I would go with 9-46!
These strings arrived very quickly and even thought I put them on the night before playing live, they retained their tune better than previous ones I tried. I also tried the light balanced of the same brand and also great too, I found them a bit too hard to bend. These are fantastic, light to the touch but feel great all around with each string the same tension. They sound great too, so definitely recommended
I bought these strings to replace very old strings on an electric guitar I bought. I bought the three box set at an amazing price, worrying about the negative comments on some of the reviews. I didn’t have to worry long, Amazon delivered these EXL110 10-46 strings the next day. I immediately checked for fakes with D’Addario online, all three individual codes passed no problem. These strings are on the old guitar I bought and the sound is just wow what a difference. I would recommend these to anyone buying new guitar strings great sound and easy to play.
I bought these to use on a budget Les Paul I was aiming to improve and am very impressed with them. They feel very nice to the touch, coloured ball ends for those who need a little help with gauges, and they definitely improved the clarity and overall sound of the guitar. In fact, I will try these on my Fenders to see how they sound Good price for three sets too Recommended
I've tried many different brands such as Curt Mangan, Ernie Ball, Everly B-52s, GHS, Gibson all of which are relatively well-priced but have a very obviously short life.
I must say that there are times when using this set of D'Addario EXL125 strings, I sort of wonder why I bothered at all because at the fraction of the cost compared to so many up-market brands, the string life and delivery of tone from the D'Addarios is actually consistent and good. Do not expect "breath-taking" tone, which, also depends heavily on your guitar and playing ability ;)
Having a rather heavy hard-rock rhythm right hand coupled with a desire for wild bluesy bends, I chose this gauge to suit my style which covers anything from blues, country to jazz and rock and roll. I use these strings with a tele, strat, an SG and a firebird VII: all sounding good.
If you're tired of mucking around with experimenting or struggling to afford expensive strings which claim to last longer, just remember this: it actually helps to just wipe down your strings after playing. After all, strings are made of metal and they WILL rust no matter how expensive or boutique the make.
Just bear in mind that the strings wraps of the EXL 125s are NICKEL-PLATED instead of PURE NICKEL, hence the cheaper price. It is misrepresentation of some sorts, but: I've been using this set for about 2 weeks, approximately 2-3hrs playing time per day and they are still alive, and I expect them to last for another 2 more weeks of playing.
I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about the brand, so decided to pick up these strings for my guitar. No problem re-stringing it. But when it came time to tuning my guitar, that’s when the issues arrived. Snapped the high E, and even before that happened it was still too low to even reach the note. Not sure if this is product fault, or my own fault. Will be ordering more and trying again soon.
I have probably tried every string going, including Curt Mangan that everyone was raving about, and here I am back with these. I first found these when I picked up a guitar and just loved the strings, then found out what they were. I've never found anything I like better, and I'm long past looking. I now buy in bulk
Very disappointing. If these are 11 thou (B string) how come I need a gorilla to bend a major 2nd? The strings are wound in pairs which means lots of unwinding to restring a guitar. What if you want to change one string? There are much better strings at this price, and cheaper..
