Fantastic collection of exciting and expertly written thrillers, horrors, detectives and crime stories!

The Suspense and Mystery Book for Charity
It is December again, these are the weeks before Christmas and what better time to think of those who are less privileged, to share a little bit of our good fortune and happiness with people who need it the most? With this fantastic crime novel you attribute to Britain’s charities Sophie’s Appeal and Hospice UK – and have 41 thrilling stories to read!
The initiative for this collection lies with Bloodhound Books and co-founder Fred Freeman has written a beautiful foreword. In his words 'Dark Minds’, with so many awesome contributors, is: “a celebration of crime fiction.” May I add that the dedication and commitment of Bloodhound Books, all those wonderful authors and least but not least my fellow book bloggers, for me truly represents the spirit of Christmas.
It’s impossible to capture the 41 stories in a review – just let me tell you it’s a wonderful and exciting mixture of expertly written thrillers, horrors, detectives and crime stories. Almost every story comes with an awesome plot twist that will catch you unawares, you will keep guessing until the plot is revealed. It's a fascinating compilation of sinister plots and you can treat yourself to a story or two a day or just dive in completely. Enjoy the riveting tales of 41 masters of suspense!
I am proud to participate in this fantastic initiative by writing a review: a crime book with 41 short stories of which the proceeds go to charity. It's truly fitting with the December spirit and I hope that many people will buy the book. The stories are entertaining, engaging, horrific, lovely and thrilling. Among my favourites are Tony Cox' two elderly ladies chatting over a cup of coffee, Pete Adams' naughty story, Emma Pullar’s horror tale and David Evans' story of love.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Give generously to those in need and buy the book for yourself or as the perfect Christmas present for a loved one.

Brilliant twisted and dark tales!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 September 2017Verified Purchase
I've been reading this anthology over the last few months, dipping in and out of it as I like to do with any anthology.
This is a stunning collection of stories from some fantastic authors. Each story has a dark theme to it, whether it's a crime story, a twisted psychological thriller or something on the bizarre side. Every story is unique and this anthology offers top reading material!
What I love about it so much is that it's introduced me to some new authors. I'm keen to read more from many of these. Amongst these were authors I'm already a huge fan of. What more could I possibly want?
I think short stories and anthologies are often overlooked and underrated by many. Whether you read each story one by one or dip in and out like I did, don't go past this great collection for your bookshelf!
5 whopping happy stars from this eager reader for this top-notch anthology!
I read a paperback copy of this book that I won in a charity auction by the publisher. As the highest bidder I was blessed with a signed copy. All opinions are my own and totally unbiased.

Amateurish
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 October 2018Verified Purchase
Mixed bag. Some of them are well-written and interesting/entertaining. Some are well-written but badly thought-out and go nowhere. Some are downright odd and unpleasant, with no point. And some are just really poor. And I mean really poor. The whole book feels like a publication from an amateur writers' circle or the like, as the quality varies enormously.

A must for every bookshelf!

This book is just brilliant. A sample of every genre going, and then more than you'll ever imagine.
Getting all these fantastic authors together was fascinating and very exciting. BloodhoundBooks achieved a game-changer, here. Following the time it's taken me to read this book, I've learned so much about new and inspiring authors.
Every story is 100% unique, and most of the time it's shocking, funny, horrible, sad, happy, thoughtful...I could go on; a bit of everything!
Every shelf should have this book on it. You could read it in a sitting, but I preferred just reading a few at a time!

Bags of bang for your buck
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2017Verified Purchase
I do enjoy a short story and I love crime, thriller and horror so from the off, this book had my name on it. Naturally, taste comes into it with a selection of stories as wide as this. Those I especially enjoyed were An Onion by Joel Hames, I’ve Gone by Anita Waller and Out of Retirement by Mark L Fowler which were very different but really clicked with me. Overall I have to say this is a great selection but it was noticeable that the proof reading in some wasn’t as tight as in others. I mentally labelled it 4.5 stars but it would be churlish to drop a half. A very good read and bags of bang for your buck.
