I opened the packaging and for a second thought I ordered an an actual dictionary. Then I remembered I ordered this slick safe that looks and feels like a real book. The lock is solid and the combo was super easy to change. The edges of the book are textured to look like a well used book. I slipped it in to my bookshelf with other reference books and you couldn’t tell a difference. Sweet!
I tricked my husband! He always finds my stash but he don’t read EVER, so this blends in my bookshelf and now I have a fat stack Iv saved since his sticky fingers can’t find it ! Hahaha ‘laughs in Evil’
I purchased this for my husband, who is in real estate and needed something secure to keep keys in. I wanted something that could sit on the seat of his car and not draw attention. This was perfect! When I handed it to him, he looked at me weird, like "why did you buy me a dictionary?" - - we had a good laugh after I explained to him what it really was. The code was easy to set and he absolutely loves it! In fact, he shows it off to his clients and they always ask where he got it. My daughter was equally impressed, and wants one to keep her things in over at her other house where she has meddling stepsiblings. Great purchase!!!!!!!!
**UPDATE - I am still unable to get the safe open but I truly hope it was because it is a dud or accident. The seller reached out to me and offered me a replacement or refund. I accepted the refund. I am so glad they reached out to me and were so kind to give me my money back** Sooo. While setting the code and messing with it, the lid got shut accidently with the switch stuck in B in the side.... safe to say it won't open now. The code doesn't work, the default code doesn't work. It's just stuck and isn't useful. Make sure you switch it back to A in the side before the lid gets shut. Totally wasted my money.
This book hidden safe looks extremely fake. The “pages” around the book look like the type of plastic used to make laundry baskets. The metal housing and locking mechanism seemed very sturdy and could possibly be repurposed, but the book itself doesn’t disguise anything. It almost looks like a toy on the exterior.
Really does look like a book. The cover is actually made of a thick cardboard paper material, exactly the same as a book! Depending on what you plan on storing inside, verify the measurements to be sure it will fit inside. While I do prefer a 5 or 6 digit PIN lock, this 3 digit lock was simple enough for storage of lesser amounts of cash or items that are replaceable such as passports, ID cards, or credit cards that have theft protection.
I like that this book arrived looking like the picture with the safe inside. As I unboxed the safe, I set the code to lock the safe with the directions enclosed by the seller. The inside safe is small enough for a pile of bills, actually 2 piles of bills. The only literal "Take away" is everyone who buys this knows what the outside of the book looks like. If someone is a professional robber & goes into your house, this book can be picked out on a bookshelf (if they are very bright & resourceful). The book cover is plastic, the portion that immitates book pages is plastic & inside is the metal safe. I would recommend customizing the plastic book cover in some way. (But it is not necessary). I love the concept, I would just like to make it a bit more authentic looking on the book shelf with a less obvious cover. How would one do that? FIgure it out.
