Fitted to the ceiling in the hall. We wanted something that won't dangle in the way of people walking through the hall, or get bashed by things being carried. This light fitting does that - it's both unobtrusive but big enough to have some style when looked at. And it is translucent enough to let lots of light out but you can't see the bulbs inside as bright spots.
A bit of patience needed to fit. From memory there is a metal spindle with screw threads at both ends and it is possible to screw it in too far at the ceiling end so that there isn't enough thread at the bottom end to give you confidence that the glass shade is well held. I just did it again and it's been up about 6 weeks now so it's good and solid. (I left the previous light fitting's connector blocks in the base of the old ceiling rose screwed to the ceiling).
Overall we are pleased with it. Oh - good packing too.
