The switch seems to work OK, still working on vlans. The AP controller, however, is a real problem and there are compatibility issues between different versions of the controller and access points. At the moment, my Engenius 1300 access point won't show in the list of access points, but shows in the maintenance and troubleshooting section. And this controller has "taken over", so I can't manage the AP directly through it's interface.

We're up to about 5 times where I've had to restore either one or the other to factory configuration. And about 2 days.

Documentation is useless and a couple of versions behind the firmware.

Configuring Linux is easier.

Update:
After discovering the hard way that the interface is not compatible with Firefox or private browsing in other browsers, AND discovering that the "2 part" firmware updates/upgrades are really one-part upgrades for the units I received, AND dealing with the poor documentation, I have this and an EAP1300 up and running with VLANs working (another brand of NGFW).

Oh, and EzMaster won't install or run on 32 bit windows (I'm repurposing an old computer for network management. But you don't learn that until after you certify that you meet the specs (of which 64 bit is NOT mentioned) and download the file.

I have updated my overall rating to 3, because it works and was finally able to configure it. But no higher because I lost a lot of time making this work, only to discover that it doesn't support some browsers. The products work, but the documentation is no where near where it should be.

Firmware bug causing lag Tech support nonexistent

Purchased this with 3 EWS357APs. Setup was fairly straightforward if you are experienced, however keep in mind the processors on this and the APs are not super fast. So for example the Wireless controller in here allows you to Group the APs and send the configuration to them all in one shot. When initially setting up the APs DO NOT try to do all 4 at the same time, unless you have nothing better to do for a really long time. As in mine sat over an hour trying to write the settings only for me to assume it wasn't working. I tried again doing only 1 AP, setting up the group, and then adding 1 AP at a time and adding it to the group, pushing the settings took about 5 minutes or so per AP. Once they are all configured minor changes (adding an SSID, changing channels, etc) pushed to all APs in a reasonable time (about a minute or two).

So anyway in setting up I followed Engenius best practices in configuring the APs (and this is not my first rodeo, I've been doing this for a long time),and everything seemed to work quickly, I was able to roam between APs, had fast connections etc. But then my wife and I started to notice something on certain devices. Anything high powered (laptops, desktops with wifi) would have these lag spikes. Sometimes they would be very frequent, other times it would go 10 minutes or more between them. If the devices were close to eachother it would be significantly worse. Sometimes you could even trigger a lag spike by adding a device to the network (ie turning wifi on on a cellphone). First I chased settings, channels, etc. Then I chased devices, removing everything from the network then adding devices back, same issue even with the network empty. Basically the stronger the wifi on the device the more likely it would be to lag spike. Then I chased possible 5ghz and 2.4 ghz interference. Nope same issue.

Contacted Engenius tech support - no answer. Contact Engenius Customer service (who were more than happy to help me buy the equipment by doing a scan of my floor plan and reccomend parts etc) "Oh no worries we will get someone for you". No answer. Try online firmware update "you are not connected to the internet" Yes I am, I'm literally on the internet through this device. Manually update firmware "you are on the latest version". Go to backup Firmware BIOS. Same issue. Reset everything and reconfigure. Same issue.

After chasing this for weeks and speaking to friends in the network field I determined it must be some sort of firmware bug. Thankfully within the return window it all got boxed up and sent back and in its place I purchased a Ubiquiti Unifi 24 port PoE switch and 3 Ubiquiti NanoHD. Set it up identically to the Engenius, which btw is astronomically easier and better. Their interface compared to Engenius is like the difference between DOS 6.2 and Windows 10. And 0 Problems, 0 lag, 0 dropouts. And cost me nearly the same price. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, I've used Engenius in the past, but you'd think they would put a modicum of effort into helping a user who they just helped to buy $1000 worth of product. Apparently not.

GREAT Mesh WiFi Controller

I am extremely happy with this controller.
The setup was easy for me but you might need to read up before you install it. If you have done these systems before, you will be fine.
The "auto-update" feature that updates the WAP's is really really great. Once I programmed the system, it worked beautifully.
To config the system, you can change it from a controller to a switch.
Make sure you use the EnGenius WAPs (already my go to for WAPs) and they will integrate seamlessly.
I know I sound like a fan boy but trust me - I'm not. I have been to war with EnGenius with some of their other products but this one is really great.

Many Features Do Not Work, Terrible (Really Terrible) Tech Support

Purchased with three EWS360APs. Some features work great, others are completely broken. Guest Wi-Fi and captive portal will not work even after four firmware upgrades. If you need basic managed APs with no guest wi-fi, it is a reasonably priced solution that seems to work. Anything else is really just a gamble.

Email-based tech support only. Average response time is about 5 days. They never read the question--after 3 weeks I think I've determined that they can't read English. They just skim the question looking for tidbits that they recognize, give you a canned response that someone else wrote for them, and then immediately flag the problem as "solved".

Our customer is reasonably happy, but only because we didn't charge them for all the extra support hours. I kinda feel like we got ripped off. No fault of Amazon, just an ok, but not great product.
