I'm not altogether impressed by this SPF30 PA++ anti-ageing foundation from Elizabeth Arden. The foundation is very attractive packaged, in a silver card box and a pump bottle that resembles a perfume spray. On first trying to spray this, I was dismayed to discover that it has a very thin consistency that didn't simply pump but also dribbled product down the outside of the bottle. I thought initially that this might be because the pump needed a few goes before it was working properly, but the problem has persisted long after priming. This is wasteful and messy.

The foundation has quite a chemically smell that I find unappealing. I'm very pale, on the porcelain-skinned side and received this in the 01 Light shade, the palest currently on offer. It's too dark, with quite strongly yellow tones that don't work well on my skin. If anything this seemed to emphasise under-eye dark circles, making them appear browner and more like bruising. Unsurprisingly, considering the watery texture, the coverage this gives is very light. It's supposed to have a naturally-luminous appearance - but because of the skin-tone mismatch, I looked vaguely jaundiced.

Includes skin protection from damage caused by the sun's rays - both UVB at factor 30 and UVA (the kind that causes ageing), although apparently a PA++ rating only equates to moderate UVA protection. I'm not sure about how much I trust the longevity of this protection. Suncreams, designed specifically to protect from UV rays, require regular re-application of product in quite significant amounts in order to ensure that protection is maintained. A small amount of this foundation seems unlikely to be able to provide adequate all-day UV protection.

This is quite expensive, and since I'm not keen on the consistency, coverage, colour or scent I can't see myself buying this in future.

I received this as a free sample to test in shade number 1. The packaging is elegant – it comes in a silver box & the bottle itself is mostly silver with a clear band at the base to show the colour of the product. The bottle itself I think is some kind of Perspex rather than glass, so is very light.
The product itself is an extremely thin consistency that comes out of the pump dispenser very quickly. (It tends to dribble a bit down the side of the bottle as well). I have extremely pale skin due to extensive vitiligo, I initially thought it was quite dark and with a yellow tinge, but after 20 minutes or so the colour seems to ‘settle’ and actually matched quite well. It does blend very easily with fingers but I would describe as light coverage rather than light-medium, the coverage was not sufficient for me to cover/blend the remaining patches of pigmented skin that I have. It has quite a strong scent that although I found quite pleasant, it was a little overpowering for a foundation. In the interests of testing, I also tried it on the back of my hand and on my arm - the coverage, while light, was very even and left skin feeling velvety soft and hydrated. It is claimed to be spf 30 – but I require spf 50 reliable protection – I would never rely on a make up product for my sun protection. So while this is not for me - I could imagine that it would be perfect, although expensive, if you have slightly drier skin and do not require too much coverage – it would give a very good ‘barely there no make up’ look.

I passed this product to my wife to test

As you would expect from Elizabeth Arden the foundation is well packaged in a round bottle which fits easily into a bag. The colour 1 was great for me as I have light skin. It is a press dispenser top which was a slight problem the first time I used it as it let out more of the product than I needed which was a waste but knowing that I was much more careful the second time. The foundation liquid has a light fragrance and is quite thin and velvety which meant that it went on smoothly and in my case covered really well. It lasted most of the day but it has been very hot which doesn't help and I am sure that in normal temperatures it would not need reapplying. I cannot say that it brightened my skin than more than other products or that it had any anti ageing effects as you would need long term use to confirm this.
Its a nice product pleasant to use and gives a nice effect but no nicer than other products on the market which are a lot cheaper and more in my price bracket but if you are willing to pay more then this product is worth buying

This is about as close to perfect a foundation can get!
It has managed to master being light and “invisible “ whilst also offering excellent coverage for blemishes and uneven pigmentation.
It is expensive, there is no getting away from that, but it is very, very good.
It goes on well, blending in and “disappearing “ with either a sponge or brush ( fingers didn’t gives as good a result ,to my mind, as they didn’t spread the product as lightly on my skin), I wore a little powder over the top of this, but it can be worn alone to give a “no make, make up “look as it captures that fresh finish perfectly.
