5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for Women in Medicine

: I am not a surgeon, but as a cardiothoracic nurse practitioner I often share their schedule, and their mostly white male environment, I can relate so much to different aspects of this story as a female in medicine.

Yumiko Kadota is such a great story teller; which I would think is rather difficult writing a nonfiction book but this book reads like a fiction novel. I could not put it down when I got to the last 150 pages! This should be required reading for females in medical school.

I found Kadota’s competitiveness and her passion admirable, and was endeared by her ability to be so raw, when she admitted her perceived defeat was taboo. How alike we are Yumiko! I cheered for her the whole way, and will continue to cheer for her and every other female who wants to hustle or not hustle because there is room for all of us.

Favorite quote: “We all have different values, priorities and goals in life, so this notion of using someone ‘better’ and more ‘successful’ than myself as a cookie cutter was flawed. What does success mean anyway?”
