I was expecting to have to make a room almost completely dark for this blacklight to work as that's how many of my blacklights in the past worked, but this thing is super bright and works even if the room isn't darkened! I used it to charge some glow-in-the-dark stickers that weren't glowing no matter how much light I shined on them. Then I used this blacklight on them and discovered they actually did glow-in-the-dark as advertised. It works great to see messes that need cleanup, fuzz on the carpet, and makes the plastic marbles and marble run game I bought for my daughter glow too!
The UV light it built well, has ample UV output for detecting urine and other contamination. I purchased this specifically for UV adhesive activation. The light does a great job of kicking off the cure on UV cure adhesives. I've tried it on Monsoon, loctite, k300 and a couple of other brands with varying success. The light does chew through battery's pretty quick to get a set of high mAh liPo or nmh AA rechargeable if you will be doing a lot. For UV cure this won't cure the lower wave length adhesives in the 330-360nm range but does really well in the 380-400nm. If you have an glue needing a shorter wavelength the manufacturer offers a multi wavelength light that will cure in the 350-400 range. Always check the UV requirements when purchasing UV adhesive as some require expensive curing equipment.
This is a good quality light. I bought it for my niece who is deathly afraid of scorpions. Unfortunately this black light also shows other things most people would rather not see. Now she goes around looking at everything. Dog have an accident on the carpet, oh yeah, she points it out even though you’ve cleaned it up. Crumbs, lint, stains of all kinds show up. On the carpet, on the walls, on the furniture, no place is exempt. I’d like to apologize to all of you who may be in the travel or hospitality industries. I have empowered a tyrant. Woe be the hotel staff when my niece books with you. Probably won’t be long before she’ll be persona non grata at friends and family abodes. All because I gifted her this light.
I bought this for my sneakers because the glow-in-the-dark requires a charge in order to actually light up. Other than that, this flashlight is very well-made for the price. The battery compartment could be made with better plastic since it feels cheap, but the flashlight itself overall is really hefty and durable. I've been walking around my house using this just to see what's going on everywhere (lol). I guess this has more use than just for my sneakers. It's good to have for those in-case moments so I highly recommend a UV flashlight in general (not just this particular one).
Very bright output in a nice handheld size. UV output is at an appropriate wavelength- too many manufacturers simply create a purple LED and call it "UV". Definitely works to show pet stains and other blacklight effects.
I don't know yet about battery life, but will update when I have better data to report.
Purchased this one for pebble picking- there are certain minerals that fluoresce under blacklight, and my other lights are too big to carry easily. This one will go along on any hiking and camping trips! (especially if I get back to the southwest again- would have loved to have this when I lived in New Mexico!)
These were recommended for use in the garden to search for the ever dreaded HORNWORMS ... ugh!!!
Thrilled to report that these flashlights are a MUST if you plan on growing tomatoes !!!!!
We go out after dark with these flashlights and look over our tomato plants (and other plants) for hornworms. If you grow tomatoes, then you know that a hornworm can devour most of your plant before you realize he is there.
These flashlights are excellent - with them you can find the tiniest of hornworms and get them off your plants before they devour all your leaves.
These flashlights have hornworms GLOWING BRIGHT GREEN - easy to see and get rid of !!!!
Side note - if you have any animals ... this flashlight with all show you any “piddle” areas your pet may have left on your carpets.
My sweet and charming 11 yr old GSP was diagnosed with Addison's Disease last week. Initial treatment required large doses of prednisone causing major water consumption. Hence, major bladder problems. I have LVT flooring with grooves and his target was the dining room table and chairs. While I used a treatment product and could not be sure I cleaned the spray area completely. This worked like a charm for urine detection. The men is this household will be cleaning bathrooms tomorrow after my flashlight tour.
This flashlight gives a very different view of dark surroundings and the high intensity provides a good clear picture of things normally not obvious in normal yellow or white lights. This is useful for highlighting certain objects, while dulling other bright objects.
Advertised for hunting purposes, the light has numerous other uses. My personal favorites are finding unusual stains in rental rooms, night time foray through the house without disturbing other occupants, and checking the quality of vaseline glass.
This is a great little light, nice and bright. I used it to look at my teeth for about maybe 10 seconds and definitely felt a little burn on my skin for a bit afterwords, so it definitely works really really well for $10. Like most flashlights it does work better in no or low light areas, but it will still make items glow in higher light areas. It's just the more visible light there is, the less powerful the glow is. All in all I would say that for $10 it is well worth the price.
