"The Essential Jewish Baking Cookbook by Beth Lee teaches you how to make favorites of mine, like the marble rye that I grew up with, borekas that I got to know and love when I lived in Israel, and even specialties like malawach that I learned to make from my Yemenite mother-in-law. There are Ashkenazi knishes and Sephardi roskas, too. I can't wait to start baking from it!" --Faye Levy, author of Faye Levy's International Jewish Cookbook and 1,000 Jewish Recipes--This text refers to the hardcover edition.

The recipes are clear, thorough, and pretty darn foolproof. I know because I have tried many of them—including making the black-and-white cookies one night when I had a craving. I couldn’t believe how easily them came together. They looked and tasted as good as ones that you’d find in a New York bakery.
I got an advanced copy of the book, and I enjoyed it so much that I gifted copies to friends and family. Everyone loved it, from experienced bakers to kitchen newbies. (The intro alone is an amazing resource devoted to baking 101). The recipes are full of warmth, humor, and practical tips.
Aside from the excellent recipes, what I adore is how much heart is behind them. This book gave me a deeper appreciation for the culinary legacy of Jewish bakers. It’s also the next best thing to having a Bubbe beside you in the kitchen. I am excited to keep baking my way through.
