Con- after playing a snippet of a phrase or song, it goes into "listen mode". The listen mode is where the base briefly lights up and is then supposed to pick up on your baby's speech and play something else, as if it were 'listening'. But the length of time it lies in wait before showing the light to let you know it's active is too long, imo. It's close to 40 seconds. Many times my baby has already moved his attention to something else by the time this decides to activate and play something else.
Con- The same snippets play very often. I almost wonder if this toy in particular is stuck in a test mode. The sounds seem to be looping through a set cycle.
Pro- the slow instrumental hip hop song is a banger. My baby's absolute favorite. He swings and sways instantly when he hears it. But Con- it's too short and there's no way to get a longer version. It lasts like 10 seconds! I wish they would make this toy with just a longer version of this song.
Con- it isn't very loud, and normal household sounds can easily drown it out.
Pro- the light up base is not too bright. It doesn't hurt my lockdown induced light sensitive eyes.
Con- The woman's voice uses phrases like "did you say 'check the weather'?" when your baby obviously didn't say "weather". This means once your baby starts talking they may become frustrated at this toy "mishearing" them.
