Product description

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Paul’s Best

Absolutely love Flaming Pie, from way back when the album was first released in 1997. The idea of Flaming Pie came off the back of the Beatles Anthology project in 1995 when Paul was inspired to write new songs. The term “Flaming Pie” had actually come from a John Lennon quote during an interview, where he was asked how the Beatles got their name. Back to the album itself, and as stated, it’s a great album full of beautiful melodic songs with superb lyrical content that Paul has come to be known for, it’s also interesting to mention that this album was the last that Linda McCartney was involved in, as she sadly passed away shortly after its initial release. The album features acoustic driven songs such as Little Willow and Calico skies which are simply beautiful. Some great musicians help Paul out on this album too including Steve Miller and Ringo plus Paul’s son James adds some nice guitar works on the track Heaven On a Sunday.

I saw another review that said they weren’t too fond of this album?? Excuse me? I can’t comprehend that at all, simply put - Flaming Pie is largely regarded amongst fans, as one of Paul’s best later albums, especially up to the point it was first released in 1997. It was also critically acclaimed and well received across the board on its first release in May 1997,

In this latest instalment of the Paul McCartney Archive series, you get this lovely 2 cd set in gatefold packaging - disc 1 is the remastered album done at Abbey Road Studios and the second disc features 21 home recordings and demos. A fascinating insight to how the songs started out!,

If your a Paul McCartney fan you will more than likely be completely familiar with Flaming Pie, if not, I highly recommend it. There is not a bad track on this album and the sound quality is fantastic!

Cut yourself a large slice of Flaming Pie and enjoy 🥧

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Album - A1
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2020
This is a truly fantastic album! Apparently, after the Beatles anthology project Paul having reconnected with his Beatle past wanted to recreate music in the style (and quality) of The Beatles.
There’s not a dud track on this glorious album, every song is brilliant. Now, if you think I’m being servile here or overly biased and / sycophantic then just buy the album for yourself and listen to the tunes and melodies. Then you will see (hear) that all the songs are wonderful. This remaster / reissue contains many bonus tracks, demos and outtakes - all of which are a pleasure to listen to. This particular release is great value for money and will provide many hours of pure listening enjoyment.
If you can afford it - there is also a deluxe & super-deluxe version of ‘Flaming Pie’ - both of which contain many glorious extras.
How this guy does it (produce melodies and tunes of such high quality) is beyond me. Many of the songs are ‘top drawer’ and the musicianship / production is (as you’d expect) flawless.
I don’t want to labour the point...just trust me: if you enjoy top quality music (whether or not you are a Beatle fan) then I promise you that you WILL enjoy this CD and its bonus material.
Wonderful album: buy ‘n’ enjoy!
