Registered cleanly, then suddenly reported as locked/stolen.

Verified Purchase

Bought from the Fortinet amazon store. Unit arrived new and sealed. Initial offline install went well, but when attempting to sync online their portal 'lost' the registration information, and reattempting the registration returned a 'Locked' status.

3 layers of tech support later, they say the unit is 'lost/stolen' and start asking for copies of purchase invoice and contract. This was a clear sign that no, this isn't going to work out.

Tech should arrive *working*. If I buy from a company that's posted tech on amazon, they should know they've done so. It shouldn't be 'lost/stolen'.

Will not purchase from this company again.

Be aware of Bundle warranty expiration

Fortinet ships these devices with a bundle warranty which starts 99 days after the device leaves the factory. This means that you should be aware of how long the device has been sitting on a reseller's shelf. In my case I purchased the unit in January of 2021, but the bundle warranty was activated in July of 2020, so I lost 6 months of support. I am happy with the product, I just wish Fortinet had a better way to handle this.

Received this yesterday and finished setting up this morning. This takes a significant amount of computer networking knowledge to set this up. There doesn't seem to be a lot of online guides related to homeowners and the average user may be able to connect through it but i doubt it would be set up efficiently. I believe this to be a great value for money. The subscriptions are costly but data security is not easy and the good companies arent cheap.
