03/27/2017 - Update:
These things don’t seem to last much longer than a year. When the fixture was replaced during a bathroom renovation the original fixture had a incandescent bulb that came with the house over ten years earlier. I'm not how these bulbs are supposed to save anybody anything. The GE's did last the longest however.
11/28/2014 - Update:
After the second Philips bulb in the same fixture blew out (the usual 5-6 months) I purchased a second one of these. BOTH are still working! I can't see how the Philips CFL is supposed to saving any money when it lasts a small fraction of the time the conventional incandescent bulb was while costing many times more. These GE's seem to function as advertised! Great buy!
Original review: After having my bathroom renovated the light fixture was replaced with one that only allows a pair of these square based fluorescents to be used. After having the new fixture for four years I have put in at least nine replacement bulbs. Supposedly they are supposed to last longer than the screw in incandescents somehow...? I'm not sure how long this will last, but I do know it gives off a much warmer, brighter light and so far I am happy! It is nice knowing I am not stuck with one brand of light because that is all the local stores stock.
