This is the second Garmin Mini Dash cam I have purchased, it is nice and small and hides nicely behind the rear view mirror. Overall great product, I also purchased the hardwire kit and installed it using that method on both my vehicles. There is an app for it, the app can be a bit slow and lags at times. Not the best for reviewing footage. I recommend taking the SD card out and using a computer. From my experience the app works better on an android, on an iPhone it loses connection more often.
I have this and the more traditional garmin 55 with the screen in the back. This one has a very similar video quality but I like how the 55 is voice activated. "ok garmin, save video". Done. On this one you press a button and it saves but you have to sync your phone to look at the video it saved instead of having a built in screen like the garmin 55 and up. If you never had a dash camera you're gonna be okay with this but going from one with a screen to one without is kinda hard to get used to.
I’ve bought some bad electronics in my life. This was easily the most frustrating thing I’ve ever owned. Continuous WiFi connectivity issues, no support from Garmin, constant export failure for clips, audio deciding when and where it wanted to work, endless buffering, freezing, etc. Camera itself might not be bad, but the Garmin Drive app is about as useful as a piece of feces in your gas tank.
Took it out of my car after having a run in with a meth’d up car thief and when the audio and export failed, took it out and stomped it into a thousand pieces. Never felt more gratifying than seeing it destroyed on the pavement. Won’t buy Garmin again, but it certainly got the ending it deserved.
I bought one so far and "might" buy another two, but not at the going price. I like it for its size, but the fact that it doesn't have a screen which I can understand makes it too expensive. Video quality is like most 1080P dash cams from what I have seen on YouTube. And if they are going to list 1080P, then at least do so at 60 fps. When they drop back down to the $119 to $129 mark, I'll consider another purchase.
Good camera, once figured out how it works. The longer cord can be used with the USB. The smaller cord must be used with the car lighter port. Didn’t know that when trying to set it up in the car so had some troubles to start. And couldn’t find information on how to fix that. Would be good if that was included in the instructions
Great little unit. Easy to setup. Just make sure you buy a micro SD card which is not included. Sync to my Pixel 5 with Garmin Drive app. Read other reviews that the unit gets too hot when in use. To be honest, I have no reason to touch it after I stuck it behind my rearview mirror. I also don't have the parking module for it to be on 24/7.
