It was exactly what I was looking for because the car I wanted to fit it to has sensors fitted to the rear view mirror and takes up a lot of space so I really needed a small camera , the Garmin mini is ideal .

Pues eso, una actualización desde el móvil hizo que la cámara dejara de funcionar, el soporte técnico da como única solución enviarla a Garmin para reemplazo, el detalle es que a pesar de haberla comprado en Amazon México, piden enviarla a Garmin USA, costeando yo los gastos de envío de ida y vuelta y por consiguiente los posibles impuestos aduanales, casi el 60% de costo de la cámara.
Duró 3 meses, por lo que obviamente ya no conservaba cajas ni manuales, ergo imposible reclamar a Amazon.
Vale mencionar que se utilizó en condiciones optimas, con una tarjeta de memoria de 64GB Enhanced enfocada a dispositivos de escritura continua.

Worked great for 60 seconds... then it didn't!

Awesome idea & actually worked amazing for the first 60 seconds.
Then it crapped out... and I wasted over two hours trying to fix it (without success).

Seemed easy to setup. Installed it on my windshield, downloaded the app, everything looked great. My SD card appeared to be recognized, I could stream live footage, look clear and crisp. I was excited.

Then it downloaded a firmware update... and now the camera doesn't work. After the firmware update, it refuses to recognize the microSD card. I confirmed the SD card was successfully recording data prior to that update. Tried other microSD cards - no luck. After update, it also stopped "live streaming" to my phone. So basically it is now useless.
And worst of all - I can't find a way to revert back the firmware.

Now I've wasted two hours of my life struggling with this dashcam - for something that should've only took 5 minutes to setup.

I will be returning this product.
Got 1 minute of pleasure - and 2 hours of headaches.
In conclusion: I DO NOT recommend you buy this dash cam!

Buy something else. This unit while nice and compact, will not connect to my phone via the app. Video quality is subpar for this price range. When hardwired to the standard install for dash cams it will keep losing power if your vehicle has eco mode stop start when at traffic lights... the battery does not last long enough to retain operation when this vehicle feature kicks in. (There are hacks to get around this on the web). All in all there are MUCH better devices on the market in this price range. Support for my issues with Garmin have been horrendous. No response to emails at all. Calls have been in queue forever. No call backs. Will never buy another Garmin product ever again.

This is a replacement for the first one I bought & returned because it would not work. This one works perfectly. The SD card formatted as specified in the manual and the camera paired without a problem with my iPhone, with the DriveSmart app and with Garmin Express - there were no issues. Recorded picture quality is excellent and review via the phone and computer worked great. I will probably get another unit for the rear window.

I'm surprised how unreliable this camera is. I thought a product from Garmin would be better. Says it will detect motion, it might if it stays powered on. I would have to say that over 75% of the time, the camera was not even on while driving. I would have to unplug it and plug it in. It was 50/50 if it would power up after that. Tried a few different 12v to USB sockets and cords, same result. The last few days, it would not power up at all. Thankfully this all occurred before my Amazon return deadline. The app is also choppy and unreliable as well.

Just mounted this unit yesterday. Two comments. The unit runs hot so I’ll mount a small heat sink on the back. Cannot get the Garmin Drive App to live stream on my iPhone 8. WiFi will not connect. Anyone have a solution? UPDATE: I had been trying to connect my iPhone sitting in my driveway. Wouldn’t connect. Tried at my son’s and ,,, Bingo! I think my iPhone was connecting with my home Wi-Fi and wouldn’t then connect with the Camera Wi-Fi.

WORST PRODUCT EVER.

The dash cam has a nice attractive size but it gets hyper hot to the touch and stops working after 10 or so minutes of usage. Also the car adapter supplied with the camera just burned after the first day of usage. The app android app does not work properly on a Sony XA2 with Android 9. Beware and read more reviews before purchasing this product.

UPDATING REVIEW AS OF APRIL 27th 2021

Once again folks, I have been giving this product constant reviews, and I believe it's helpful to have a review over a period of time.

A summary: the product STILL GETS HOT, no matter what configuration you put in. The camera get so freaking hot it will shut down eventually. Unfortunately enough, I had to disassembly the camera *its out of warranty anyways* , and I was able to find that the MAIN CPU CHIP has a very Tinny heat sink that its attach to the casing of the camera. I had to purchase a separate heat conducting paste and apply it, also, I create something like a Frankenstein attachment that goes outside of the camera, that will allow the system to dissipate more heat. Juts to let you know, as the camera gets hotter, you will get blurry images... so, the resolution for getting licenses plate its gone. If you ask me better go for a very cheap camera, one that its worth 60 USD MAX, used it for a year and then replace it for a new one.

1. After using the product for several months now, I have come to several conclusion, the car adapter was not damaged as original stated, it was getting stuck, thus creating a bad mechanical and electrical connection with the car outlet, I had to give a big push and make a good solid connection, now is working perfectly fine.

2. The App was causing problems with the release of the Sony Xperia XA2 Android Version 9, fortunately enough, Sony launch a new software upgrade to correct minor defects on the OS, now the Garmin application run perfectly fine on the cellphone.

3. Camera getting hot:

This problem is still an issue, the camera is still getting hot, when I got the camera and installed the application software for the PC, I was able to connect the camera and make a FIRMWARE upgrade on the camera itself, this upgrade, does NOT eliminate the over heat issue, however, looks like the camera runs more efficiently and does not shut down during a long trip, however, the camera does shut down after 1 hour and 45 minutes, seems to be that putting the air conditioning helps in getting the camera to run a little bit hotter.

Don't get me wrong... the camera size and the picture quality are great, however, running the camera at such high temperatures (even if is within spec and according to automotive standards) could be risky.
