In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan. As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan. He is resolved do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima. In War-Torn Tsushima, Ancient Beauty Endures: In this open-world action adventure, you'll roam vast country sides and expansive terrain to encounter rich characters, discover ancient landmarks, and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima. The Rise of the Ghost: In his quest to reclaim Tsushima, Jin must seek support from old friends and new unlikely allies. He must break away from tradition, become a new kind of warrior, and protect what's left of his home at all costs. Mud, Blood, and Steel: Challenge opponents with your katana for an immersive samurai combat experience, master the bow to eliminate distant threats, and develop stealth tactics to disorient and ambush enemies with surprise attacks.

Everything feels cinematic, which clearly the game takes inspiration from, not just a close attention to historical detail, but Akira Kurosawa movies as well (there is even a Kurosawa filter to play in grainy black and white, nice touch). The game feels grounded and the combat weighted and precise. The game is challenging without being frustrating. Early on three hits from Mongol grunts on medium saw Jin face down in the mud.
The world is vibrant and beautiful, realistic and gritty. It is an pleasure to marvel at the scenery and skyboxes.
I am only just passed the first section in the game and there is still so much to witness, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this is a game all PlayStation uses must play.
I will update this re view as I progress further into this absolute amazing game!
Got to thank Amazon for their service, for its unbeatable price and getting the game at my front door at 10am on Launch Day was a surprise indeed. I was expecting it to arrive late in the arvo. The pre order codes were sent a day early, too. Thank you
One unique feature is the Kurosawa mode which uses Japanese audio, and applies a grainy black and white filter to replicate old Japanese films in the style of filmmaker Akira Kurosawa.
Overall, an excellent game to celebrate the last days of the PS4
Visually, I can't believe this game is running on the PS4 it is stunning! No frame drops either which was surprising. The story is compelling, the combat feels smooth and fluent, the stealth is satisfying whilst not overly complex and really my only gripe with the game is the camera whilst in combat can be a bit finicky and could have used a lock on feature. But all in all I have to say Ghost of Tsushima is a must play for any PS4 owners, it's well worth your time.
I was disappointed with Last Of Us 2 but Ghost of Tsushima got me enthusiastic for gaming again. glhf:)
