4 M2 screws positioning holes for easy installation
Control Interface: A total of six pins (GND, VCC, MISO, MOSI, SCK, CS), GND to ground,
VCC is the power supply, MISO, MOSI, SCK for SPI bus, CS is the chip select signal pin;
3.3V regulator circuit: LDO regulator output 3.3V for level conversion chip, Micro SD card supply;

Confirmed to work with ESP 12-E.

The pin connections are as the follows (left = SD module pin, right = ESP 12-E pin) :
CS => D8
SCK => D5
MOSI => D7
MISO => D6
VCC => Vin (* 5v, not 3.3v)
GND => GND

Note that, the VCC must connect to the 5V Vin for the module to work (if powered through USB port).
NodeMCU documentation says 3.3v, which does not seem to apply to this module, because there is a on-board voltage regulator on the module, taking only 5v input.

Another thing to note is, the example sketches under ESP8266/Example/SD are not using the right CS pin (recommended by NodeMCU) at the SD.begin() function, and you would have to change this line to SD.begin(15) to make it work.

I have been using these for over a year and have had no problems. Now I needed to also connect a SPI ram. SD card initializes but the ram won't. I found that the MISO line is never going into the tri-state mode. The makers of this board connected the ALV125A gate enable (pin 13) to ground, instead of connecting it to the chip select. It's difficult to unsolder pin 13 of U1 and connect it to pin 8, but it's do-able. This problem also exist with other vendors I have checked, so don't discount the value that these boards have. Just be warned.
