A must read. I learnt more about pandemics in this one book than I did through the media for an entire year. If you want to understand Covid, get this book.

Eye opening, a must read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 May 2020Verified Purchase
It's the 2nd book after How Not to Die of Dr Greger that has opened my eyes and anchored my aim to eat only whole food, plant based diet.
He speaks more about the history and frightening future of pandemic rather how to survive it, although it does point out ways how to secure yourself and others around us.
Must read for everyone - we are all in this together and if we (all humanity) don't change our lifestyle then we are facing a grim fate. It's not time to be scared but to understand, plan and be ready. Awerness is essential.

Evidence based, scientific brilliance!

If you're not familiar with Michael Greger, MD I urge you to take a little time to familiarise yourself with him and his brilliant work. You can check out his free web based info portal at - NUTRITIONFACTS.ORG
This is the fourth of his four books, of which I have all of the others and I can quite honestly say that collectively they have been life changing. Not only for me but for my family too. This book, whilst heavily laden with scientific information and statistics is an easily readable book, for ANYONE. Michael Greger, MD interlaces humour with facts that combine to make this tomb of just under 600 pages an enjoyable, fluid read.
Until November 2019 I ate very little else other than red meat, chicken eggs and dairy (copious amounts of whey). I trainined intensively and to a high level and thought I felt well...UNTIL, after watching a documentary on plant based eating, I decided to try a three month experiment of eating a 'vegan' diet. Now several months later I can not explain the tremendous difference in my energy levels and mental wellbeing. I feel fabulous. Like many people I probably felt low grade 'well' for most of my life, but if this becomes your norm, you're really missing out.
It really is possible to achieve optimal health through eating densly nutritious foods and the better our health...microbiome etc, the more of a chance our body has at fighting off harmful invasive pathogens in the forms of bacteria and viruses. We can either be intelligent about the things we choose to eat, or dig our own graves with our teeth.
I have worked extensively in mental health for 36 years, latterly at senior levels and have witnessed how transformative changes in nutrition can be. I guess the best proof you can obtain is by trying things out for yourself. Someone like Michael Greger only bases his facts on available evidence, all of which you can check out for yourself. This really could be a life changing book for those who choose to read it!

A lot of theory, which is fine, but the chapter on Surviving The Next Pandemic might make this the best £8.99 you'll ever spend.

Everyone should read this book.

Dr Greger elequently summaries the problems of modern society and its insatiable appetite for meat. Highlighting the problems intensive farming techniques have caused and will undoubtedly cause in the future if we, the human race, do not change what we eat.

While the content is scary, especially the first chapter! It is critical that people read this. Like all Dr Greger’s books the research and the effort that has gone into producing this book is 2nd to none. Highly, Highly recommended.
