I am giving this 3 stars because although I don't care for the product on me I think it maybe good for others. I was excited to try it after seeing it is tinted with SPF. I live in a humid place. It's hot all year. I live at the water. I saw that Lo Bosworth from the hills uses this. I am a fan of hers and her skin is impeccable. I knew I had to try it! I felt my skin was dry until using this. I feel it has given me breakouts since it's a bit oily. Which I'm not at all happy with. I do like the look of it on. Although I don't think I got the right color. I feel I could have gone a shade darker. Maybe I would like it more if it looked more tinted for me. I got the Diaz. I have medium skin tones. I was going off the reviews and the model pictures to compare my skin type. Personally I think this is expensive for what you get. I have used CC creams with SPF and love them. I also have loved my IT cosmetics cc cream with SPF. I noticed this creases in my skin in some areas. Also it comes off easily on clothing ect. It is really lightweight and I don't notice a bad smell at all. I actually feel it barely has a smell. I like that it feels clean on my skin. I'm in my early 30s and have pretty good skin I'm told. I just don't think this was the product for me.
The spf function of this product is the good news. Zinc oxide is very effective sunscreen but it leaves a chalky finish that is slow to absorb and is thick. My 72 yr old sensitive skin has been subjected to years of sun exposure and now I live in a desert climate where single digit humidity is common. In order for this product to look half decent on me, I have to blot my wrinkles, add a smoother tinted moisturizer and a top layer of lotion sunscreen to get any kind of glow. The color I chose was slightly too light which adds to my ghostly appearance. I will keep it because of the cost but it's a lot of work to make this be right for my skin type. There is no irritation from the product.
So I saw that this won an Allure beauty award. I am in my late 30s and just now starting to get into skin creams and such. I read a review that this product was great because it allowed you to skip a few steps in your skin care routine since this combines a serum, moisturizer, color corrector and high SPF sunscreen all in one. My mom had some so I tried hers. At first I hated it, it seemed way too oily. I had read negative reviews about it that it smells bad, like dog food. Yes, it smells a bit like dog food when you first put it on but the smells goes away. So after using this for a few days I feel like it improved the condition of my skin and it didn't go on so oily for the other applications. I am not using it so much for the color correction, more for the SPF and serum benefits. For reference, I have normal skin and my t-zone will get a bit shiny. If you have dry skin this would be great for you. If you have oily skin it may seem too oily for you.
I’ve used this product for some time now, but have always purchased directly from Ilia and am very familiar with the product. The serum i received is not past expiration per the box, but is thicker than normal and has an old, funky smell. I will be returning and will order directly from Ilia from now on.
This tinted sunscreen is amazing. I was afraid I bought the wrong color but it is an exact match. Long wearing. Blends in perfectly. Not too dewy. Looks natural. I bought Sheila. The texture and coverage is so much better than I expected. It is lighter weight than foundation but a little more coverage than my other tinted sunscreens.
I'm 46 with VERY dry, VERY sensitive skin and this is the best tinted moisturizer I've ever used. My skin looks better when I use it, probably because of all the skincare in it. I love that this is my moisturizer, skincare, SPF, and some light coverage all in one. I've bought this 5 (yep FIVE) times since it came out- nothing makes my skin look as good so it's all I use now. It's somewhat pricey but it contains very high quality ingredients, and I can really see the difference on my skin. Keep in mind that it's sheer coverage and extremely dewy. Has a somewhat peculiar scent but doesn't bother me- smells herbal-ish and I FAR prefer that to masking, irritating, artificial fragrance.
Usually you shouldn't believe the hype. But believe this. I am super sensitive to sunscreens and I am not a huge fan of make up. Prior to this, my favorite make up was glossier, and I own several products. The ilia eye make up and the tinted sunscreen are superior to glossier. I am 49 with fair akin and fine lines, and I dig this. I still use glossier too.
