To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Well it was pretty easy to set up, however you need to install software on every darn computer you want to print with and it redirects your ports which take some time and energy to undo. I could already “share” the printer with Windows, I wanted to be able to print to it with my iPad and iPhone but I had issues with that, so I uninstalled it and the software everywhere, then played around trying to get things back the way they were, disappointed with it.
First the disc will not load properly on windows 10. GREAT. So I went to IOGEARS site for the latest windows 10 drivers. Once downloaded it I tried to run the driver program and it just sat with the OIGEAR Print Server splash screen nothing. I restarted my PC tried again nothing. I called the support team provided on the STOP card, READ ME FIRST. I was connected with someone I could barley understand. I'm not taking away from anyone they are probably a great tech in there own language / country but I speak English. So we muddled through and tried several times to get the software to load and finally they told me it was my computer. WELL I tried 3 other desktops and a laptop with different versions of Windows 10.It's not my computer. lol wow so save your self the aggravation and upgrade your printer to one that is network compatible or share the printer on your network from a local PC or MAC for everyone to use..
We were given a B/W Brother laser (HLL2300D) non-wifi. The Archer ac1900 router print server protocol didn't work, so we needed another option. It took a little work, but after reading the other reviewers thought it was worth a try. They were right, Adding the connection using the TCP/IP was perfect (you must install Brother driver first via USB connection). Now I can print from anywhere in the house. Let's see how long it lasts.
I had really hoped this would allow me to air print from my phone but it doesn’t have that capability. It will print off of my laptop and chrome book. My HP printer was not WiFi capable and I really didn’t want to buy another printer. This was nearly perfect for what I needed.
My Canon Pixma iX6520 is NOT on the list of supported printers for this print server. But, it worked just fine. Nothing more to say than that. It took me about 10-20 minutes to get it connected and working with my two Macs and one Windows machine.
DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 10 - even though the product description says it's compatible with Win 7 thru Win 10. The first clue that this ancient piece of hardware should have been trashed years ago is that the Installation manual only has instuctions for Win XP and Vista. After wasting a couple hours searching the Internet and trying to set it up, neither my Win10 PC nor iMac would connect to it. Thank you Amazon for taking this piece of crap back, but shame on you for the incorrect product description.
As other users have stated, this device killed my LAN. Worked great for a few hours before killing communication on every physically connected device. WiFi continued to work uninterrupted. Thought my router was acting up, but after removing the device all is well again. Time to send it back...
Bought this to take a chance to network a Fargo DTC1250e usb only badge printer, the print server recognizes the device, they only down fall is that the printer does not detect what type of ribbon is installed which has to be manually set in the printer properties. otherwise it works as expected.
